I stayed sitting up in bed but I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. In my mind, I went over everything that's happened to me in the past week.

It seemed so impossible when you think about it, yet here I am and here I'll stay.

(Y/n)'s point of view

It's been almost two weeks since I was restrained to the medical tent. Laurens has left already, so it was pretty lonely. At least the gang visited me every day while they could. I had started feeling better a while ago, but the nurse wanted to keep me here extra just in case of infection or something.

By now, news had spread like a wildfire and everyone now knows that I'm a woman, despite the gangs' best efforts to stop it. I didn't mind. It means I don't have to hide anymore. Washington had tried to get me to wear a dress for a uniform, but I refused.

Today was my first day of training and I'm not going to lie. I'm terrified. They'll probably not agree with me at first, but I have a plan.

I'm sill required to wear the bandages even though I didn't need them, but luckily my new uniform, designed just for me, hides it mostly.

The men were all lined up when I arrived at the range. Everything was the same as it was when I practiced here not to long ago.

All conversation stopped and all eyes were on me. I took a deep breath and walked up to the front of the group.

"Attention troops. My name is (y/n). You will show me the same respect that you show your male trainers. Am I clear?"

Most of the men nodded, except for one. Darryl was back and he looked pissed.

"Why should we?"

I smirked and handed him a gun.

"I want you to shoot that target down there."

He scoffed and raised the gun up and fired several rounds, none of which hit.

"What does that prove?"

I then took the gun and shot at the same target, only I hit it.

"That's why. I'm going to show you how to shoot, how to properly handle a gun, and how to ensure you hit the target your shooting at. As of now, I am better than you and I'm going to teach you everything I know."

Darryl's glare was filled with hate. I guarantee he was remembering the time I beat him in hand to hand combat. That must be really embarrassing for him to loose to a woman.

The rest of the day consisted of me teaching them proper ways to handle and care for their gun. We would be firing tomorrow.

"Why do we have to learn this stuff?"

"So you don't kill the person standing next to you."

"But we wouldn't do that."

"You sure about that? I mean, your al idiots from where I stand, so shut your mouths and just listen for once in your life."

No one questioned me much after that.

I got back to the tent and was greeted with lots of excited and a few bear hugs.
