I stood up and he followed. I wrapped my arms around him. I felt better after talking with him.

"Thank you."

"Johnson, lift the barrel! You aren't going to shoot anything of you're aiming at the ground!"

I'm surrounded by idiots.

"Have any of you ever shot a gun before? Yes? Then act like it!"

I swear these guys are going to be the death of me.

I looked up and saw from the sun that it was time to head back for dinner.

"Cease fire! That's all for today. You better pray to the heavens while you can. At this pace, we'll all be in Hell soon enough."

I took in a deep breath. Let's just say that having to train these men over the past year has forced me to raise my patience level.

I walked back to camp with the trainees in tow. I was greeted by men throughout the camp. People respect me more now, which is nice, but they by no means like me. I'm considered the Bitch of the camp. Honestly, I'm okay with that. It means people leave me alone.

I walked over to one of the higher level soldier. I don't know what he did exactly, but everyone else had left.

"Has Washington returned from Monmouth yet?"

The soldier shook his head. I felt a lot form in my stomach.

Calm down. You already know what happens.

Ya, and what happens is we get our asses kicked.

I took a deep breath and entered the general's tent. Inside was Alex writing at an inhuman speed on a piece of parchment.

"Sir, the troops haven't made much progress in their training."

He didn't look up or acknowledge my presence.

"Sir."

Still nothing.

"ALEXANDER!"

He jumped a little then looked up at me with an irritated look on his face.

"What?"

I sighed.

"The troops haven't made any progress in their training."

He snarled at me.

"That's what you came in here to tell me?"

I felt something stirring in my stomach.

"Yes. Because it's my job to report to you while Washington is away, whether you like it or not."
