6 months later:

Alarm rings.

Nina groans, grabbing the pillow beside her and covering her ears, muffling the annoying sound of the alarm. "Its 5.30am. Leave me alonneee." She says as she jabs her finger across the snooze button on the alarm. Nina closes her eyes and then, what was actually fifteen minutes in real life, but thirty seconds to her, her alarm goes off again and this time she successfully turns it off and gets out of bed, rubbing her eyes. "Ugh." Nina groans again as she slowly gets up and makes her way to the bathroom.

After putting up her hair, washing her face and brushing her teeth, she goes into her bedroom again, sitting on the edge of her bed, scrolling through her Instagram. She then texts Paul good morning before going into her closet to find some leggings and a t-shirt.

"This will do." Nina says as she picks out a pair of black leggings and a F.R.I.E.N.D.S shirt. Suddenly, her phone chimes and when she picks up her phone, a huge smile appears on her face.

Paul: Morning gorgeous.

Nina: Go back to sleep you, it's only 6 am.

Paul: Too bad, your text woke me up.

Nina: It did? I'm sorry, you always have your phone on silent so you don't reply until after 7 am.

Paul: Actually...last night I put the volume up high so I could text you back as soon as you text me.

Nina: That's so sweet...I still feel bad though :/

Paul: Of course you do. But, you have to go to work and if you keep talking to me, you're going to be late.

Nina: Well then it's totally worth it.

Paul: Babe, I love you. Now go make a movie.

Nina: Finnnee, I'll talk to you later?

Paul: Can't wait :)

Nina shakes her head as she smiles, grabbing her purse, keys, script and water bottle before heading out the door. As she gets into a cab, she notices the regular breakfast place across the street, the lopsided sign, and the brightly lit maple syrup sign. She laughs lightheartedly, a laugh which only lasted for a quarter of second as an unforgettable memory pops into her head.

Two Weeks Ago:

"Are you sitting down?" Nina hears her manager asks as she nods her head appreciatively to the cashier, taking her coffee from the counter.

"Why?..." Nina asks tentatively.

"Just, be sitting for this okay?"

Nina sits down at a small rounded table near the window and places her coffee carefully on the table, the steam rising and evaporating, heating her face. "Okay, I'm sitting down, what's up?" It had been nearly six months since she last saw Paul, or anything remotely related to LA, she missed New York, she missed the busy streets and the tourists, and she missed Paul, she missed him so much it was getting harder and harder every day to cope being in Canada. Paul was busy doing numerous projects in New York, and recently, hadn't had the time to properly talk to Nina.

"Remember how we said this was going to take 18 months?"

"Yeah..."

"It's now been changed."

Nina sighs frustratedly as she runs one hand through her hair, "Please tell me you mean it's been changed to 12 months."
