Chapter - 1

Remorse

Guilt was one bad thing. Sadness was another. But regret? It was the sickly combination of both.

Because of this regret Dhruv was trying hard to bear the worst kind of pain. The last time that he saw his girlfriend, they had fought over her reckless being. Even after he had warned her, much too often for her liking, that she should be careful while driving , while crossing the road, while at work and on many ludicrous occasions that meant the world to her, she had broken her ankle in a bike stunt.

That was it about her that at times filled him with a sense of incredulity but it also made him furious at her carelessness. She meant so much to him that he was scared and like all boys in a relationship, was protective of her.

She knew that behind his anger was nothing but care hidden for her. But she couldn't help being a rebel. She was fearlessly authentic and she knew this was one of the reasons Dhruv was attracted to her. She was so out of control and he saw it as a challenge to take control of her.

Ever since they met they were inseparable. They managed to solve the few fights they'd had and everything settled back between them like a muslin comforter wrapping around them with a warmth of love.

The day her ankle broke was the day she was going to tell him about her leaving Guwahati. She was to go to Goa and Andaman, It was work calling and things were in her favour as going to Goa, her homeland, meant getting a chance to see her family. She was ecstatic by the news but the thought of Dhruv made her sad. Going to Andaman also meant being away from Dhruv. Sure there has been times on weekdays that they didn't see each other at all. Some weekends even went by when she was abroad for a few days. But this was going to be a bigger project than any other she had ever worked on, she would be gone for a long time. It was going to be hard on them and more harder would Dhruv take it, she was certain.
