Chapter - 17

Assurance

When life takes away your so called most precious thing on more than one occasion,

Then it is life giving you another chance. It is life pointing out to you again that stop missing out the point.

It was a hard day for Dhurv in the gym. His mind had given up to cooperate and in a constant battle to keep it concentrated on his work, he was exhausted. Mentally. Whatever he did, his mind wouldn't just stop thinking about Naina.

The girl he’d been seeing from weeks and even months and how could she never have told him she was carrying a baby.

What type of friends were they?

He didn't like misjudging her but from that day when he’d mustered enough courage to let her know his feelings and the reality about her had crashed his trust in her, he couldn't stop wondering.

He knew she had feelings for him. The intimacy they shared in her room told him things she had never uttered from her mouth herself.

He brushed away those images and frowned in the free space.

The baby didn't bother him that much, after all the feelings between them were mutual. What bothered him was her trying to conceal her pregnancy.

His breathing came out hard as he stood in the parking. He needed to take his mind off these things. Maybe fresh evening air will do him good. Thinking so he walked towards the park in the society.

The wind was pleasant, the sun was setting behind the buildings and the whole walking area was bathed in a warm light. Kids were playing with a constant chatter yet there was some kind of peace in the environment. He liked being distracted and sighed as his gaze flickered from people to nature and then back to the kids.

He took a sharp breath as his eyes spotted Naina in the park, crouched down to the height of a little girl who gave a peck on her cheeks shyly.

Was she for real or was his mind playing tricks in her. He stood transfixed by her dazzling smile that she gave to the little girl and fussed the hair of a little boy who was standing near them with a naughty expression.

Dhurv watched her exchange a few more smiles and words that were probably teasings he guessed as he wasn't able to hear them. Her hair blew on her face in the direction of the breeze and then pushing her tresses away from her face she stood up and stepped out of the playzone, her eyes still on the kids.

She was wearing a light pink shirt dress which seemed comfortable on her body. Dhruv’s eyes travelled down to her sneakers, one of which was untied. His eyes moved back to the park and searched the naughty troublemaker and found him staring at Naina with a successful grin.

A smile tugged on Dhruv’s lips and he shook his head wondering what joy it gave the kids to carry out such antics. When his eyes found Naina again, she was standing still watching him with a sad smile.

There was no point in ignoring anymore. He knew she wanted to talk to him. More than her, he wanted to talk to her too and really talk this time. He shrugged and returned a smile to her and saw her flush a little. She was the cutest girl he had ever met, a perfect blend of fierceness and shyness.

He had missed her the past weekend.

She felt like she was dreaming as she watched him walking towards her with purpose and confidence. He was wearing black tee shirt and cargo pants, his leather jacket hanging from his fingers, studs in his ears and he looked incredibly hot. The type of hot that leaves your throat dry and makes you forget the act of breathing. His smile made her feel overwhelmed with emotions.
