Chapter - 20
Be serious
❤
To feel safe around someone's energy is a different kind of intimacy...
“Naina!” A whispered shriek of her name made her stop. Naina was caught sneaking out the door by Simran in the late hours of the night. She shut her eyes and bit her tongue for not being quick enough. She turned on her heels to focus on the worried face of Simran.
“Where are you going like this!” Simran’s eyes widened at Naina's appearance.
“I have a very urgent work. Can you handle mom for me please Simran di?” Naina asked in desperate need to step out of the flat.
“You sneaked out yesterday night too. You went to Dhruv’s place, didn't you?” feeling like she was caught in a red light, Naina’s eyes widened in surprise.
“How do you even know this!”
“That conversation you guys had this morning about ice cream in his fridge, you were there and something happened surely for your boyfriend to barge in on us this morning.” Simran shrugged as if that was the most obvious fact and Naina nodded to her with a blush deepening the shade of the blush she had already applied.
“Please di, I really want to go meet him tonight.” Naina fixed her most convincing eyes on her sister. But Simran was stern when she glanced at what Naina wore and sighed loudly.
“How can I cover for you? And if mom knows you went out like that she’d be more than just mad!”
Naina wasn't taking any of the elder sister's warnings tonight. She was on a mission and she really wanted to go for it.
“Look di…” Naina tried to calmly make Simran understand, “it is very important to me that I talk to him tonight. I am answerable to mumma and she already has so many questions. I just want to gain clarity from Dhruv first before I tell her anything more.”
Simran still frowned but moved away from the door and Naina was relieved and gladly unlocked the door and stepped out. Turning around, she said, “don't look so worried di...I’m going to be okay”
Simran was overcomed by protective feelings as an elder sister. She wrapped her arms around Naina and they hugged each other, not sure who was reassuring who. A lot had happened with Naina and Simran just wanted everything to turn out for good.
“You two better be serious”, coming out of the hug, Simran said and Naina smiled at her to soothe her worry. Her mobile phone rang and she bid goodbye to her sister and boarded the lift. Her cab was waiting downstairs and she was ready for tonight’s show.
The whole dance floor glowed with red and green laser beams shooting out from the rotating lights in the ceiling. It was Friday night and the club was packed with people dancing and jumping to the DJ’s throbbing music.
Dhruv was behind the bar, making drinks for some of the regular lads who crashed there every night on weekends.
Sometimes he wondered how he could just work on autopilot when dealing with glasses and bottles. His thoughts were totally far away from the heat and sweat environment of the club.
His thoughts was on Naina.
No matter what he might be doing, he always found himself thinking about the most beautiful soul he now connected with. Who was now his girlfriend. He thought back to the times he was so reserved and kept to himself but Naina somehow managed to break through the walls he had built around him. At first he was confused because of Jess’s eyes and then gradually, without even his awareness, he fell for Naina and started loving her, for the person she was on the inside. With her in his life, it felt enlivened. Naina has taught him how to enjoy the little things of his life and appreciate what he was gifted with. She was the reason he had become so free and comfortable now.
