We were asked to be perfect
We are far from it
We don't wanna be like this
So we run away from each other
Not knowing that
We have stayed together this way
Together in separation
.....He had feelings for her. She knew.
But he couldn't accept her with another man's child.
Neither did she want her kid to be some kind of responsibility over his shoulders.
So they were staying friends.
But only for a while. Naina decided as she wandered into her kitchen, feeling restless while rubbing her hand over her throat and chest. Her mom and sister were asleep and it was 2 after midnight and she couldn't get herself to sleep.
It had been a month now that they have been trying to be just friends. She had expressed her unsurity of her future with him but he always cut her saying that she didn't have to figure out the whole ladder and should just take baby steps forward. But all she could see was that she wasn't moving forward at all. She wasn't sure if she was even moving when it came to Dhurv and her relationship with him. She sighed and poured a glass of water from the kettle. Her hand caressing a little bump that she could only feel but it wasn't that noticeable when people looked from the outside.
These were the times when it got really hard for her to deal with all this as a single to be mother. And this was just the beginning. She shuddered to imagine herself in her final month and reaching there all round and lonely. She drank from the glass, her eyes focused on the brim as she stared at the kitchen lights refracting in the glass. A frown sat on her eyebrows.
She was going to be fat soon. And she had nobody to share her insecurities with. Everyone in the society would talk about her and to whom would she complain back at home. She frowned as she kept the glass back at the kitchen counter.
Her family was there with her now. But they could never fill the void of a partner. She had dreamt of this future with Sameer back in those stupid days she thought what she felt was love. She knew she wouldn't have ever left him because of whom she thought he was. But God revealed to her his two faced game and let him hurt her to the point that she became strong enough to let him go.
Where was that strong woman now? She felt so vulnerable in these hours of the night and walked out of the kitchen, switching the lights off. She wandered into the hall and stood in the middle, not knowing what should she do. What would her life be like? Was she so unlucky to fall in love with a man with whom she couldn't be with? She had nowhere to go to or nobody to turn to.
And then her eyes fell on the closed door, a crazy idea forming in her mind.
Maybe she did have someone. Someone she loved and couldn't bear to be friends with anymore.
Dhruv was sitting on the couch in the dark, the light from the TV dancing on his face as it played in low volume. He had no idea which soccer team played or how many goals they hit. His mind was elsewhere and this was usually the case with him these days.
