Chapter - 21

Something called love

Understand me.
I'm not like an ordinary world.
I have my madness, I live in another dimension and I do not have time for things that have no soul.

Her heart thundered loud under her skin. She knew it. She so knew it but hearing him speak those words directly, with that softness rolled so deliciously on his tongue was doing things to her whole being. His eyes bore deep into hers.

He wanted to be with her.

He loved her.

She knew that but she waited for him to say something more. It was important for her to know whether he wanted the whole package she was coming with or he wasn't sure himself. She wanted him to give her time so that she could share everything about the baby like they were family and not just meet him in the evenings and talk like friends.

“I am sorry, I’m so late in expressing this Naina!”, his eyes clashed in desperation with hers, a helpless glint shining in them and she just shook her head in no, concerned about what worried him.

“It’s just that I was scared. I lived in a fear of not attaching myself with anyone. Because when I love I give myself wholely to that person Naina, I know no moderation when it comes to love. You know what happened with Jessica was like that, my world revolved around her and one day she was gone and I couldn't even live!” He paused and tore away his gaze and stared into the crashing white waves against the now blackness of the night sky.

“Loving someone that way breaks you Naina, you forget how to breathe normally, you are not aware of the passing time or days even, it’s not a good place to be in. When you came into my life, you taught me to live again and I was always afraid to get back in that zone where I am so completely indulged with someone that when I lose her I don't even know who I am anymore.” His breathing had become harsh as he spoke and Naina reached out to his hand, small against big, cool against warm and then drew her fingers between his, squeezing the hold and letting him know it was alright to feel that way. She was ready to bet, he had teared up by now but he wasn't looking at her. She watched him swallow the lump in his throat before he spoke again.

“I had just resurfaced from the deep waters of my past and so did you”, his eyes flashed at her, dark and meaning so much he wasn't saying. “You confused me so much Naina or rather I guess what confused me was these feelings which were strikingly unfamiliar but I felt it in my heart. For you Naina.” He held her free hand and brought her both hands in his lap, pulling her closer to his side.

“But?”, she asked him in a whisper, staring right into his glistening eyes.

“But you are a sneaky person. You got through me. You understood the complexities in my life yet stayed. You drove out that fear from my system. I still can't love you in moderation Naina, you know me. But you just get me like nobody else, you let me live my individuality, you enter my space but you also let me have it to myself. I think….” He breathed, his face very close to hers and warmth spread all over Naina. He could see through her eyes how she felt. No more were those eyes a barrier for his emotions.

“You think?” She whispered, closing her eyes shut breathing in his maddeningly addictive scent.

“Open your eyes.”, he commanded.

For a moment she just felt the proximity stretch between them. The silence around them at this hour was real and if it wasn't, then she was the one hearing nothing but feeling all but his presence. That was the moment where she felt they both were on the same page. Even before he voiced his feelings she knew. Her heart filled with overwhelming happiness and she opened her eyes finding his searching gaze at her.
