"Faith! Pleassseeeee." Whine Gary's daughters. He has two girls Kat and Steph. They're 18 and 15 and are basically like sisters to me. They've stayed up to ask me about Tim. I remember when Tim and I broke up they came round to my house with ice cream and we watched awfully cheesy movies and they made comments like we're gonna find you a Ryan Gosling Faith, don't worry.
"Okayyyy." I say taking a seat in the couch with them.
"So... did y'all go to the bluebird?" Asks Kat. She's probably the more interested one just because she knows Tim and Is backstory a bit more, I think Steph just pretends to be interested because her older sister is and she worships her.
"Yea, we did. We got there and this gorgeous blonde girl was our waitress, she totally had a crush a Tim." I say whining like teenager.
"I mean who doesn't?" Asks Steph.
"True."
"Okay we get it he's hot. But like how was it? What did you talk about?" Kat Says hungry for details.
"You know it was good."
"Good like yeah we did our job well, or good as in I remember why we were in love?" She presses.
"Uhhh..."
"She hesitated to long." Says Steph.
"Definitely."
"What? I just-"
"Yep, still in love." Concludes Steph.
"I think it's cute." Kat continues. "Maybe this is a good thing."
"Y'all have me seriously confused right now." I laugh completely unsure of what's going on.
"We were looking at the photos TMZ put up while y'all were having dinner and it looked like you were enjoying it." Kay says showing me photos on their Instagram.
"Yeah, look! You smiled with eyes! You never do that!" Laughs Steph.
"Hey! I do."
"No you don't." Says Kat flicking through. "But maybe you've both learnt from before. Maybe this is your chance."
"You think we could get back together?" I laugh. Silly girls.
"Yeah! Why not?" Asks Steph.
"Sometimes girls, it doesn't matter how much you love a person, if you aren't compatible you just don't work. And besides we were basically kids back then" I explain to them.
"Yeah, but just because you weren't compatible then doesn't mean you can't be now. And like you said, you were kids. I think you both would've grown." Kat Says. She really is Gary's daughter.Tim POV
Dinner. Faith. Okay? Good. I'm dumbfounded. How did I go from having my a hole in my life roughly the size of Faith, to having to change my schedule to fit in with hers for the next few months. It's hard though because I want to fall right back into her but I don't want her to fall back in with me. If it's been said once by some ass hole behind a computer screen it's been said 100 times: I'm not good enough for her. They're not wrong. If I was I would've never left her in the first place. I broke her and I know that just because I have changed and bettered myself I still won't be good enough.
Buzz buzz. My phone vibrates on top of the coffee table in front of me. It's a text from my mom. Hey Timmy, what's the code to get up to your apartment again?
Lord, she's already sorting out details and she isn't coming for another 2 days. I wonder if she's seen the tabloids. I hope not. I send her the elevator codes and go to make my self some chamomile tea, it's a ritual of mine. While the kettle boils I hear my elevator ding.
"Tim! Where are you?" Surely not.
"Mom? I'm in the kitchen." I holler back. My mom quickly comes into view. "What on earth? I thought you weren't coming for another few days?" I ask her confused.
"Did you really think I was just gone see you on the cover of some magazine with Faith and wait to ask what was going on?" She says. Of course.
"You could've called." I say bringing her in for a hug.
"Samual Timothy McGraw you and I both know you would've shrugged me off over the phone. But I'm here so sit down and tell me what's going on." I listen to my momma.
"It's really not that big of a deal momma." I say as she sits down next to me.
"You wanna try saying that like you believe it? You and Faith haven't spoken in years and now you've seen each other what, 3 times in 2 days?"
"Actually, 4. We just went to dinner." I admit, she was going to find out anyway so I'll just skip the whole having to see it on a magazine cover part. The look on her face is something close to 'I might pass out.'
"Dinner?" She says with a high pitched voice and raised eyebrows. "So are you two like-"
"No momma! No." I say trying to get that out of her head as quickly as possible. "We're going to record a song together and our PR teams think it would be good to generate some buzz."
"Wow.."
"Yeah."
"How was dinner?" My mom asks me the same way she used to ask me when I told her about me and Faith all those year ago.
"Okay." She's not having it. "It was really good actually." I smile.
"You missed her." It's not a question at all because she knows exactly how I felt about her and I guess still do.
"How could you not."
"At least this gives you the chance to still see her. Be friends? Who knows where that could lead?" Except I won't let it. I refuse that hurt either of us again.
"Yeah." I fake.
"So when do you start recording this song?" She asks
"Tomorrow. They got us Byron." I say excited.
"Oooo! Yay. I love him. Wait? Does this mean I'll get to see Faith tomorrow?" Her face lights up and I remember just how much she loved her.
"I mean yeah. If you want to come to the studio with me." I say casually knowing full well that she will get up at the crack of dawn to be there.
"Wow! See Tim, aren't you glad I came early?" She says hugging me.
"Maybe, I bet you are though." I laugh. I miss my mom. I wish she would just move closer already.
"Right, well. Let's drink some chamomile and get off to bed. You've got a long day ahead of you." More like long few moths.
