There's something about morning interviews that is just especially awful. We used to be able to get away with looking trash, the classic beanie and a hoodie but now with live-streaming and YouTube even I have to see a makeup artist beforehand. Lord I can't even imagine what Faith has to do to get ready. Faith. Yesterday was so fun, helping her pick a wedding gift for Wes. I can't believe he's getting married. Seems crazy. I quickly pull out my phone and send him a text, hoping he hasn't changed his number. The last time we spoke was right before me and Faith split up so it's likely. Hey Wes! Tim here. Heard from Faith you're getting married soon and just wanted to pass on my congratulations. All the best buddy. As the makeup artist blends the last of the stuff on my face I hear the elevator ping.
"Tim hustle! We're gonna be late!" Says Jack walking in.
"You know I hate morning radio. Why would you book is for now?" I whine.
"Because you're going into Bobby's show." He explains and suddenly it makes perfect sense. Bobby Bones. He's got the biggest radio show in county music, great guy too.
"Oh right." We wrap up makeup and make our way to the car. As we drive Jack gives me a run down of what today will be like.
"First your interview with bobby, just keep it light hearted and promote the single that your gonna release. Then we've got an hour for y'all to get coffee, and then two more interviews after that and if you are up to it lunch."
"Jesus Jack, three interviews in one day." I say as we pull up to Bobby's radio station. I get out of the car and see Faith nursing a coffee by the entrance.
"Hey." She says sounding tired.
"Hey yourself." I say as we're lead to the studio. It must be an ad break or a song because everyone is just chatting when we enter.
"Tim! Faith!" Bobby says. We each shake his hand and take a seat at a mic. "So were live in a couple of minutes and we'll just have some questions from me and then we'll go to the phones. Sound good?" Oh good. The general public will get to ask us things. Yay.
"Yeah that's fine." Says Faith. And I nod my head even though I'm terrified. I hate interviews, I always say the wrong thing. Some of the crew set Faith and i up with headphones and soon someone starts counting down from 10 because were about to be on air.
"Y'all!" Announces Bobby. "We're in the studio. We've got Tim, we've got Faith. If someone told me a week ago that we have you both on the show at the same time I would laughed in their faces! So tell us what's up?"
"Well, were just two friends collaborating." Says Faith.
"Riiiiiiigggghhht. Two friends." Says bobby sounding sceptical.
"She's telling the truth." I assert. "We've been working in a single and its dropping in a few days." I say.
"So what your telling me is we are get new music from Tim and Faith together, in a few days, and y'all are just friends." I laugh. She laughs. "Okay so tell us about the song."
I look at Faith and she nods for me to answer. "Well, we co-wrote the song and it's basically about two people who used to be in love, and who might forever be in love, but they can't be together." I surmise.
"It's very dramatic and theatrical. It's got a very interesting story to tell and we think that people are really gonna love it." She explains.
"Yeah I mean I haven't heard the whole song yet, I've heard the teaser but Faith! Your vocals." He says making her blush.
"Isn't she great?" I jump on the bandwagon. "We were in the studio all day and it was getting late, and I remember thinking we're to tired we are never gonna finish and then out of no where she pull out this show stopper. It really is something." I say.
"He's being kind. When you've been in the industry as long as I have and all these new younger artists are popping up you need to keep your sound fresh." She says. "And along with that you have to fight the industry trying to box you in as a 'classic'" She laughs.
"It's interesting that you say that Faith, because I was having a conversation the other day with a buddy and it's true once people see you as a classic artist you only get to do greatest hits albums." He agrees. "But luckily we get to see you two collaborating together again. So just indulge us, what's the best part about working together again?" He asks.
"Ahhhhh" Says Faith.
"Ummmmm." I say.
"Well, I guess for me," begins Faith, "it's just being able to hangout again. I mean we've always been friends," what a lie, "but when you're not together anymore it becomes hard to find time to maintain that." She finishes.
"Yeah she's right, and like two days ago my mom was in town and she hadn't seen Faith in years so it was nice for them to catch up."
"Really?! You caught up with your ex's mom?" Asks Amy, his co host. "Surely there's a level of awkwardness?"
"Oh definitely" laughs Faith. "But anyone who knows Tim's mom knows that she is the loveliest woman."
"Okay well I think we should go the phones now. Y'all ready?" Asks bobby.
"As ready as we'll ever be." Says Faith laughing.
"Call number one. Tell us who you are and where your calling from."
"Hi y'all, I'm Debbie from Michigan." We here's a woman say.
"Alright so what's your question?"
"My question is whether or not Tim and Faith, y'all think you two could ever be in a relationship again?"
