I groaned as my phone rung for the sixth time, I didn't rush to answer cause I thought it was just someone calling to call, when they didn't hang up I turned over and answered it noticing the voice. KP, Tasha's cousin.

"Yo my nigga, you need to get down here now!"

"What?"

"Its Tasha, she got shot!"

"SHOT? Where at? She good?" I jumped up out of my bed as my mind raced everywhere, I was scared, and I didn't know what to do. "Uh, let me um- let me get someone to watch Kairi I know I can't bring her to the hospital." I slipped on my sweat pants and hung up immediately calling Ayana. I didn't think she would mind watching her for me, just until I figure out what's going on.

"Hello?"

"Ayana, I need a favor. I just got a call my baby moms got shot and I need-"

"Yeah, I can watch her. Its okay, i'll be there in a few."

"Oh- thank you."

Ayana showed up quicker then I expected she could tell I was worried cause she just gave me a hug and I left. The drive to the hospital was a good 30 minutes but I made it 20. I cared about Tasha cause she gave me something that gave me life, a reason for me to strive to be better, which was my daughter. I had to see if she was going to pull through, and I wanted to know who did this to a woman. If something happened to Tasha I know I would be devastated because Kairi will have to live without a mom, girls go through a lot I know it and I cannot teach her all the stuff she need to know to become a woman, and I most definitely don't want the streets to teach her.

When I arrived to the hospital I knew I was going to get some heat from her ole bitchy ass mama, sorry to say but that woman hated me.

The first person that noticed me was her cousin, KP. Me and him go way back he was the one that put me on Tasha in the beginning. I'm not mad at him about it, I mean somethings work out somethings don't. We was something that just didn't.

"Wassup bruh? You good?" We dapped each other up and thats when the others started eyeing me down and rolling their eyes at me, I didn't see her mama so I'm guessing she was in the back or something.

"Yeah, yeah. We just waiting on the doctor right now. Who kept Kairi?"

"A friend, where your Aunt?"

"That devil?" KP rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. "Who knows, she haven't been around lately."

"Damn, why?"

"Last thing we heard from her, Tasha said she had a new man and she act like she don't remember us."

"Damn, Tasha never mentioned that to me. Who you think did this?"

"The niggas Tasha be around got set up, so happen she was there at the time, shots fired and it got her."

I clenched my jaw cause I was getting madder just thinking about it, what if Kairi would've been there? These niggas in the streets don't give two shits about where the bullets fly.

"But aye, if all goes wrong. I think she would be better off with you anyway bro."

"Yeah, we know she wouldn't like that though."

"Family of Tasha Holmes."

We all turned our attention to the Doctor but his face showed it all. "I'm sorry, we tried everything."
