There was limited information on the fire man, just a name and place, apparently, he had grown too strong for his powers and was starting to become out of control. They said that mutation had changed him emotionally and dulled out his empathy, making him an almost 100% psychotic killer. He was currently in LA and we would need to fly over and try and persuade him to stop the murders and come with us. I was confused as to why they needed the Avengers help at first, after battling Loki and his army, Ultron and his, it seemed a bit of a down grade to help capture one man, but after all the questions they told us that they had sent in multiple teams and seemingly none of them came back.

We all met on to the deck after the meeting where the plane was waiting for us, we all got on and sat down in seats opposite each other. In front of me was Stark and two seats to my left was Bruce, on my left was Steve, Romanoff was driving, and Hawkeye was assisting, Thor was too busy trying to understand the mechanics of it all to sit at all.

I suddenly felt the plane start to shake and the engine roar to life. I looked out of the window and saw the helicarrier starting to fade into the distance. I looked forwards again and started talking to Stark, who for some reason was already watching me.

"So, what do I do?" I said starting to wonder what part I play in this little thing. I mean I can't really do anything that amazing to help other people, all I could really do is help myself.

"You just stand and watch. Before actually joining in you need to understand how we work." So, I just do nothing, simple enough, I can't really get that wrong.

"And how we work is normally Stark comes in guns blazing, expecting to do it all himself and when he fails we pick up the pieces." Interjected Romanoff from the front seat. I laughed before replying with a simple nod of the head and just continued to look out of the window which actually reminded me a lot of my time in science. Then all the memories of England came flooding back to me like a waterfall, especially with the weight of yesterday, I still had to call and check in with all my friends back home and talk to Director Fury about calling Aunt Jane. In the rush of the morning I forgot to say anything, I hoped that she wouldn't be mad again. I stopped looking out the window and turned around to the inside. I looked over to the front to see land coming into view, we were finally there.

We got out of the plane and stealthily crept into the building in front of us, apparently that's where the fire guy was hiding out. Steve went first and opened the door followed by Romanoff and Banner. I was at the very back where I could just sit and watch and do my job. The room was large, dark and dusty, at the corners of the room there were a huge damp stains combined with dusty cobwebs. The place needed a major clean up. Steve turned on the light switch at the corner of the room and all the lights flashed on, causing us all the cover our eyes as they adjusted to the sudden brightness. As our eyes attuned to the light I noticed a figure standing in the middle of the room... This was about to get interesting!

"David, we've come to help you. We want to take you in and help you control your powers." Steve shouted as he stepped closer to the man. You could tell the man was becoming very nervous, his hands were shaking as much as mine. Suddenly his hands were engulfed in flames. Steve immediately jumped back almost stepping on Natasha but luckily missing her by an inch.

"Were not going to hurt you, David. We just want to help." Said Clint stepping forwards but immediately regretting it when David sent a ball of fire hurdling towards his face. Clint quickly dodged it but was hit in the stomach by the next fireball. The guy then turned to Steve who blocked a couple of balls but was unfortunately hit in the leg by the next. Next was Natasha, she ran full throttle at the man and was able to come within 5 meters of him but failed to get any closer, and he sent her straight into the wall, not only could he create and manipulate fire at his will, he also had increased speed and strength, I could see now why they needed the Avengers. They all looked to be falling down like flies and soon the fire man turned to me.

After an hour of non-stop fighting, saves by Steve, dodges by Tony and just standing back while the fighting continued, all the Avengers were on the floor and I was the only one left standing... This is not how I pictured this to happen. What was I supposed to do, I have no power other than selfheal which can't really help me here unless he attacks, which actually seems very likely. I look toward Steve who was lying on the floor in agony, then to Bruce who was trying so hard not to change into the Hulk, then to Stark whose suit was clearly ruined. Everyone was relying on me, and I wasn't going to let them down.
