Around the City

I closed my eyes and pictured the lamp in the corner of the room moving. Romanoff said that I should picture how I wanted it to move, where I wanted it to be, I should picture my powers moving within me. That's what I did, I pictured the lamp slowly moving from one side of the room to the other. I waited half a minute before opening my eyes again.

"Holy sh*t." I whispered to myself. In the other corner of the room was the lamp exactly where I pictured it to be. "It worked." I tried to move a couple of other objects in the room; a pillow, a chair, my phone. Each one successfully moving to where I wanted it to be. I then decided to try and move something while keeping my eyes open. Again, I pictured where I wanted it to go which was harder now I had my eyes open. My mouth gaped as I watched the papers on the desk start to shake and lift up. Slowly the papers shuffled forwards until they were off the desk and drifting in mid-air, coming towards me. Throughout the whole thing I kept my focus, squinting slightly as my head started to hurt. A moment later the papers were in my hand. I smiled to myself, getting up to go to the computer in my room.

I spent the next two hours on the web searching different things like 'telekinesis' and 'self-healers', there were reports on different people who were said could move objects with their minds, however, there was never much evidence. From all my research, I concluded that maybe it wasn't my blood that caused me to heal fast, but instead my powers. If I could move things with my mind, my body could unconsciously be putting itself together at a faster rate, my mind could be actively moving things around in my body to heal itself. If I was right then surely, I could do the same for others, I could heal people by encouraging the healing process.

The only thing with the theory was that I couldn't test it out, at least not now, or any of this week. I couldn't intentionally hurt someone with the hope of healing them, especially since I knew it might now work, but even if someone was hurt in the week, I couldn't just heal them, they'd see that I really was a freak.

I then decided to just leave everything for now and just go for a jog around the town, scope everything out before preparing for school tomorrow... I hate saying that! Jane had left me keys for the house, so I could et in and out whenever I wanted. I slipped on some sporty clothes that I could run in and left the house, locking up after.

I jogged around the large city for about an hour, I found the school I would be attending with Beth, a cute little café that I would definitely try and go to if I found the time, and finally a gym. It was only about 10 minutes from Aunty Janes house, so I would make a habit to go there and train. I stopped at a park on a small hill, it was vacant, and the surrounding town was quiet too. The view of the city was beautiful and over all the buildings I could see Stark Tower, it's lights blinked brightly even in the sun. The building was still huge compared to the rest of the skyline, and as I sat on the swing, I wondered what everyone was doing. Romanoff was probably training, Banner was probably hunched over different test tubes in the lab. Steve... I could imagine what Steve was doing, possibly because every time I thought of him I would get shivers down my back and the butterflies in my belly would cause my brain to go to mush.

I then thought of my parents, I remembered how they would take me to parks similar to this one. We would play round on the swings, dad would chase me while mum would laugh and try and defend me from dad, they would always end up in each other's arms, laughing and smiling, they would then drag me into the hug as well. It makes me think what happened to them. They went from being the most loving couple to arguing all the time, but I would take them arguing all the time to them not being here at all. I felt a small tear fall down my cheek as I pictured them. For the first time since their death I was properly acknowledging them being gone... I knew being here would make it worse. I got up from the swing and started to make my way back to Aunty Janes. It was about 5 and both Beth and Jane should be back.

I walked through the front door and immediately made my way upstairs. I walked into the bathroom and started the shower, waiting for the water to turn hot. There was a knock at the door to which I answered, 'come in'. Jane walked into the large bathroom, in her had a towel and on her face a sympathetic smile. She handed the towel to me before sitting down on the closed toilet.

"Where'd you go?" She asked watching me closely.

"For a run around the city, I want to familiarise myself with everything." She nodded briefly.

"If you need anything, you can talk to me, you know that right?"

"I know." She smiled before standing up again walking towards the door.

"Dinner will be ready in thirty minutes, after you can pack for school." This time I nodded, she left the bathroom and I locked the door behind her. Once the shower was at the right temperature I got it and washed off, it felt nice to just forget everything and let it all go.
