The Messy Painter

32 3 2

A young man

About 20 or so

Had a great passion

He wanted to show

It was a new type of painting

He called it a new style

It was random,

But fun, if you went the mile

So he split and he splat

All over the canvas

Enjoying his work

He glowed with happiness

When the painting was finished

He looked over his work

Surveying the masterpiece

When suddenly a jerk

"Stop all that racket!"

A thump came from above

"Sorry Mister! Just having some fun."

The artist heard a faint grumble,

But he didn't care

For he had an entry

For the fair

That night he slept  with a smile on his face

In the morning he woke up in the same dorky way

He threw a tarp over the picture

And headed out the door

He walked down the street

Like it was a fashion show floor

The artist made it to the fair

Just in time

To set up the masterpiece,

His greatest design

People started to gather,

For his painting was large

Much bigger than the others

So far

Other artists looked over,

Envious of the attention

But their looks could not scare him

And he took his chances

He took off the tarp with a great

Whoosh

And suddenly everyone went

Oooo

For it was nothing they had seen

In this life or past

He swelled up with pride

Inside his chest

The judges came rushing

Wanting in on the fuss

But once they took a look

They were awestruck

For the painting was grand

Messy, Unique

Something just clicked for this artist

The painting was splattered

In so many colors

It blew you away

With all of it's wonder

And people kept talking

And talking some more

He knew in his heart

He would get a good score

And the judges hurried off

In the way that they do

To judge not just him,

But other people too

But they kept glancing over,

In their different ways

And he knew for a fact

He would snag first place
