So this is a speech I recited for my Speech class and... I hope you like it (It's on choices).
—————————————————————————————-
For my speech I decided to talk about choices. And I thought the best way would be to relate it to a painting. There are a million paintings out there, more like a billion, or trillion, maybe. But that's not the point, the main thing is what's in the painting. I'm going to describe this one painting I know of.
The painting is of a path in a forest, but this simple description isn't all the painting is. By putting yourself in this painting you realize there is much more than just some trees and dirt. Because your walking through the forest of despair, but the good thing is that your on the path of hope.
You have to make sure that you stay on that path. Of course there will be some stray branches and rocks, called depression and anger. But there are some bunnies that hop on your path named joy and happiness. Maybe a deer called frustration crosses, or maybe a deer called encouragement. There might be a wolf lurking behind a tree called sadness, that once and while comes out to scare you. But eventually you will reach the end of that path and three doors will be there.
The one on the left has a bright white light shining from it, the right is pitch black, and you may think you have to choose a door. But you have the option of the door in the middle, which has a sign above it saying "Undecided". You may think that when you get to a major decision you have to say yes or no, walk into one of those doors. But you don't have to, you can choose to go through the center door.
The person asking the question may not be happy with it, but you always have a choice.
Now you may be convinced now that there is a third option, but there are so many more.
Truth is, you don't have to go through any door. You could stand in the doorway, or sit right in front of the doors until you're ready to make a decision. You could even go back the way you came, and start all over. You could step off the path and say 'I have a sword, and I'm gonna use it.' You could go and defeat that wolf you saw a while back. You could cut down some trees and build a house, or find a cave to hide out in for the rest of your life.
It's true someone or something could come along and push you through one of the doors, but that doesn't mean you can't just walk right back out.
The fact is you always have a choice and though something might prevent you from making the choice you want, you still have it, as well as many others.
