Coming Home

When you said you were leaving I didn't know what you meant

When you said you were leaving I thought you meant you were leaving your brother

You were leaving your sister

You were leaving the mother and father that loved you so much

That you were leaving the house you grew up in for a world full of more possibilities than that small house could offer

But you weren't leaving just us

You were leaving your friends

Your school

Your job

You were leaving the sports you loved to play

When you said you were leaving you told me something you didn't tell the others

You told me you were disappearing

I found this insignificant to your departure

When you said you were leaving I didn't know what you meant

You meant

You were leaving your family

You were leaving your friends

You were leaving your surroundings

You were leaving the Earth

And you weren't coming home
