"Are you breaking up with me?" He asked as my jaw dropped. How could he think that after everything we went through to find each other?
"No I would never break up with you Ty but I need to talk to you about the vampire who turned me," I said as his eyes glazed over. My lips parted slightly recognizing the robotic look as Tyler's body tightened.
"You should ask Blake to help us take him out," Tyler said automatically. His voice sounded off. His movements seemed forced as he stepped a little closer to me.
"Someone compelled him," I gasped as my mother walked toward Tyler analyzing the glassy faraway gaze in his green eyes.
"He must have let his guard down near a vampire," my mother said simply. She stepped away from Tyler leaning against her desk observing Tyler cautiously.
"Probably Blake. I'm guessing Blake slipped and told him so he compelled the memory away," I said tightly as Tyler stared at me blankly. "Anyway to fix this?"
"Yeah but it isn't usually pleasant," my mother said as I looked at him.
"Do we have another choice? He might be compelled to do a lot of things to us," I said anger leaking into my voice. My mother hit a button on her phone as four hunters rushed into the room. They grabbed Tyler as he thrashed around trying to get free. The fear in his eyes made me want to hold him but I couldn't.
"Let me go," he yelled as the dragged him down the hallway. "Ashley help." My heart broke hearing his panic but I knew this was necessary. I followed them into another room. The room was bright with white floor to ceiling. The room was bare except for a tank in the center of the room filled with what I assumed to be Holy water. Tyler screamed as the hunters tossed him into Holy water. They forced him under the water as he struggled to get out of the water. My eyes widened as his once green eyes looked toward me. His eyes were muddy almost black. Water splashed all over the white floors until finally he stopped moving. His body went slack as his eyes turned green. The hunters pulled Tyler's limp form from the water hastily. They placed him on the floor as my heart pounded rapidly in my chest. Tyler's chest lay still as no air filled his lungs. The anxiety in the room rose the longer he lay there unmoving. The hunter started doing CPR on Tyler almost instantly as they tried to revive him. I was on the verge of tears as they pushed on his chest over and over. Water sputtered out of his mouth as he coughed. Relief spread across my body as he sat up with the help of the hunters. My mother stood a few feet watching me as I walked over to him.
"Tyler?" I asked as he got to his feet. He pulled me into his arms instantly.
"I'm good now just pissed," he said firmly releasing me. He faced my mother his eyes angry. "We need to take Blake down right now."
"We have teams ready to take the penthouse," my mom said as Tyler's arm clung to my waist. "We need information from you, whatever you remember."
"I went to see him I don't remember why. We were talking about Ash and I said how I was glad she was human and he got really angry. He said something about doing all the work to make her a vampire only for that to be undone. We fought for a while and then he compelled me to prevent Ashley from finding out. He also instructed me to kill her in front of you if she figured out the truth," Tyler said a pain in his eyes. "I didn't like him near Ashley but I didn't think he was pure evil. I trusted him."
"We all did," I said firmly wrapping my arms around his body.
"Did he have backup at the penthouse?" My mother asked as Tyler shook his head. "That makes this simpler."
"When are you sending the teams?" I asked her.
"In a few days. We need to make sure they are all prepared and read in on the situation," my mother said firmly.
"We should move Nikki. Blake knows where she lives and he might hurt her," I whispered softly.
"I'll send my best to get her," my mom said before rushing from the room.
"Can we go home?" I asked him as he shook his head.
"We can't risk that," Tyler said as I stiffened.
"But if he's watching us he might figure out we know and run," I muttered as Tyler paused thinking about the possible outcomes of each option.
"Fine, home it is and Nikki is staying with us for a few days to hang with an injured you," Tyler said as I nodded.
"Perfect reason," I said as we headed over to the elevator. We got into his truck speeding to our house. I limped up the steps and into the apartment. My ankle throbbed but I ignored the pain as I rifled through the fridge. I grabbed some leftover pizza putting two slices in the microwave as my stomach rumbled. I took a bite of the melty cheese with a smile. I loved sausage pizza so much. I set the plate in the sink once I finished both pieces. I sat on the couch curling against Tyler as he draped his arm around me. My head rested on his chest as we both watched the hockey game. I allowed Tyler's touch to soften the anger still bubbling just below the surface. I shove Blake to the back of my mind for now as just enjoyed the calm silence. The silence would only last for so long.
