I entered the apartment late in the evening finding my sister making coffee. Her eyes locked onto me and she knew something was up.

"What's wrong?" She asked rushing over to me.

"I think I screwed up my relationship with Blake and I'm still in love with Tyler at the moment," I groaned as her jaw dropped in disbelief.

"What happened?" She asked me with sympathy in her icy gaze.

"I asked him to help me find Tyler. I couldn't think of anything but Tyler when I was with Blake. I need closure so I asked him and he lost it. Asked me to leave," I rambled as she listened.

"You asked him to find your ex," she murmured as I sighed.

"I know I shouldn't have asked but I thought he would understand and instead I lost possibly the greatest man I have ever met because I couldn't let go of Tyler," I said bitterly. "Blake was right about one thing. He said I couldn't stay there when the man I loved wasn't there. I need to finish my relationship with Tyler one way or the other. I don't even know where to start looking for him."

"What made you think Tyler was alive?" Nikki asked as the crowded club flashed through my mind.

"You are a genius," I said as she looked at me in confusion. "I have to go back to the club where I saw him."

"That's not exactly what I meant but a good idea," Nikki said as I got to my feet. My stomach rumbled as the smell of blood floated toward me.

"I should go but I'll be back soon," I said as she reached for me.

"Stay here. I'll make us breakfast," Nikki said as I kept walking to the door.

"I have somewhere I'm supposed to be," I lied as she nodded. She wrapped me in a hug as my throat yearned for the taste of her flesh. I slipped from her arms scrambling out of the apartment. I took off down the street to a hospital. I needed to find blood fast before the urges grew too intense to handle. I walked toward the blood storage near the surgery wing. I walked over to a doctor. I never compelled someone but I heard vampires could convince people to do things for them. "Get me a bag of blood." I put as much strength in my voice as I could.

"What blood type?" He said his eyes going glassy.

"Any type I don't care," I said firmly. He punched in the code returning with one blood bag. I hid the bag under my shirt before focusing on the doctor again. "Forget I was ever here." I exited the hospital finding an alley. I bit the back sucking on the cool liquid. I drained the bag completely before tossing the plastic in a nearby dumpster. I wasted no time before I headed toward the nightclub cutting the line thanks to my friend. I sat at the bar surveying the room. I gasped seeing a vampire in the middle of the dance floor biting into a girl. She looked like she wanted to scream but physically couldn't. I flashed to the day I was turned and wondered if this was the vampire who turned me. He started toward the back exit so I hopped up following him forgetting about Tyler momentarily. I stepped into the still night watching as the vampire kept draining the young brunette.

"So delicious," he whispered as the girl whimpered. He sunk his teeth in again as I stared. I wanted to stop this but I couldn't save her. Either way she would have her life altered completely.

"Hey!" A voice yelled from the shadows. I hadn't even noticed the other human but now I could hear both heartbeats. The vampire dropped the girl on the asphalt as he rushed toward the other human. I stayed hidden in the darkness as the human held up a piece of wood. He dodged the vampire's arms as he reached for the man. He swung driving the sharp wood through the vampire's back and into his heart. My lips parted as the vampire burst into flames before vanishing completely. He was a vampire hunter and I was screwed if he spotted me. My back pressed against the wall as I tried to blend in. The man walked over to the girl scooping her up before walking away from the nightclub. Once the heartbeats faded I stepped out of the shadows. I strode to the spot the vampire died finding nothing but ash. I took a photo with my phone texting the image to Blake. We may have broke up but he would want to know the hunters were close by. I ran away from the club only slowing when I reached the park ten miles away. I felt safer once I had put some distance between me and the nightclub. I sat on a park bench before I broke down.

"What did I get myself into?" I sobbed thinking about what my life had become. I had to look over my shoulder forever afraid of hunters while at the same time fighting the blood lust that drove every instinct I had. My phone vibrated pulling me from my thoughts.

Blake: are you okay?

Me: fine I just thought you'd want to know what happened.

Blake: be careful and thank you for informing me.

Me: anytime.

I put my phone away as I walked around the park aimlessly. I needed to go to that club but at the same time I knew I shouldn't because of the hunters. How was I supposed to find Tyler when the place was swarming with hunters?
