"What weapon Blake?" I demanded once again this time more firmly.

"You are the perfect weapon dearest Ashley," Blake said retracting his hand from my cheek.

"How am I a weapon? I never hurt anyone even as a vampire once I learned what I was," I stated with confusion. How could he think I was a weapon?

"You are someone near the hunters who could hurt them the most. On top of that Ashley you have a unique structure because of you hunter lineage. You were stronger and more controlled as a vampire," Blake said flatly as I crossed my arms.

"So what?" I asked.

"They will never hurt you now," Blake said a smirk playing across his lips.

"So I'm a shield for you?" I asked bitterly.

"Now you understand," he said draping his arm around me. He took a selfie of us sending the image to my mother. My mind drifted to Tyler and Nikki. They had been really hurt when Blake grabbed me. They could be dead right now and that would be my fault. "Let's get you dressed for the party." Blake led me back to my room before handing me a long silk black dress with cutouts by my waist. He left me to pull the tight fabric over my body. I stepped out of the bedroom the black dress flowing behind me.

"When and where is this party?" I demanded as Blake gripped my arm.

"We are going to the roof," he grinned as we walked up the stairs. "You will act polite and follow my every command or I will kill you."

"Lovely," I said sarcastically as we made our way onto the roof. My feet froze in place as twenty black eyes turned toward us. Great, the only human at a party overflowing with vampires.

"Today is the first step toward ending the hunters. I have brought our secret weapon that is going to wipe out the threat to our kind. This human is the key to the destruction of the hunters," Blake yelled as the vampires grinned at him. He had his arm securely around my waist as we weaved through the crowd. The sound of music that once calmed my pain only reminded me of the damage Blake inflicted. He swayed with me in his arms as I held back my emotions. "I knew you would enjoy dancing. You love to dance."

"Thanks," I muttered flatly as he smiled at me.

"Why so blue princess?" He asked as I glared at him.

"You took me from my family and why are you calling me princess?" I demanded as he released me from his arms.

"You are basically hunter royalty," he said simply.

"Good to know," I said walking away from Blake. I stood near the edge of the roof looking at the busy street below. I didn't ask for this and I had no choice at all.

"Ashley," a voice pulled me from my thoughts. I turned toward the voice as my heart stopped. My father stood before me with black eyes. Blake turned my father just to hurt my mother.

"Father," I said tightly as anxiety ripped across my body. Would my father hurt me as a vampire? Could he resist the impulse to drain me dry?

"Why are you here?" He asked as a tear slipped down my face.

"It isn't my choice," I whispered as he wrapped his arms around me gently.

"I promise this won't hurt you," he said scooping me up before jumping over the side. I gasped as we plunged toward the cement. I held back a scream as the ground approached us rapidly. My father took the hard landing shielding my body with his own. He compelled the few people who noticed us to forget before he faced me. "Run as fast as you can I will try to delay them." He said with a fierce protectiveness in his gaze.

"Daddy," I whimpered knowing he wouldn't live through this if I left him. "You'll die."

"I would die for my family any day. Not even vampirism could change that," he said caressing my cheek to wiped the tears from my face.

"There has to be another way," I pleaded as he looked into my eyes.

"Leave," he ordered as my vision went hazy before my hunter genes kicked in breaking through his compulsion.

"Find Mom and tell her I'm not worth it but you are," I whispered before I cut my finger on the edge of the building. "Take a sip and maybe what cured me can cure you." He looked at me hesitantly but eventually drank a small amount of blood.  I hoped my theory was correct and I could do one last thing for my family. His skin return to a normal color before he held me close.

"Don't make me do this," he begged but I shook my head.

"You have a chance at getting help but I won't make it one block," I whispered before entering the building leaving my father standing on the sidewalk. I raced up the stairs and back onto the rooftop. I located Blake quickly glad he hadn't noticed my absence. He instinctively slipped his arm around me as he continued his conversation. I looked around the party ignoring Blake's conversation.

"Ashley," Blake said drawing my attention. "What happened to your finger?"

"I cut it," I said simply as he stared at me. "I was a clumsy human." I lied easily.

"Go get a bandage," he sighed as I nodded. I walked back into the building finding a bathroom. I was mildly surprised Blake had bandages seeing as vampires don't bleed. I washed my finger before putting the bandage on. I stared at myself in the mirror as anger rushed through me. I was a tool to Blake and that's all I ever was to him. If I had to pick between saving myself or my family I would save my family every time. I just hoped I could figure out a way to save us both.
