Chapter 1- The beginning of a new light.

On June 21st, the first day of summer, a little girl is born. A little girl containing power far greater than anyone in the land. Anyone except for one. And he was watching.

Finally. I've been waiting for so long. I've worked so hard. Finally she has come of age. Her powers are developing stronger and she's gonna need far more help than her knowledgeless parents. I disguise myself as far younger than I actually am. The ripe age of 21. Perfect for an 18 year old girl with the powers of pyrokinesis. I could use it to my advantage. I heard the townsfolk whispering. He's been gone for decades. And another. How has he not aged?! And my favorite. What is he going to do us this time? I smile. "Stay out of my way and I won't do anything. Yet." They all quake with fear. I sweep my cape and head towards the house of the chosen one. Placing a spell on her mother when she was pregnant with her was definitely worth it. I change my appearance and knock upon the door. A very frightened man in his early 40s answers. "C-Can I help you?" "Actually Joshua, I came to help you." He stares at me confused. I slam the door open using a magic spell. He stumbles back terrified. "Who... What are you?" "I am a powerful mage. I heard of your predicament and I came to help. I offer my services this one time Joshua. I will help control your daughter's powers and return her home. Or you can suffer her dangerous wraths. It's your choice." "How can I trust you?! I don't even know you!" He shouts standing up. I smile. "If you don't want to risk it, be my guest but be warned Joshua. Her power will only grow. Without proper training this small village will be burned to the ground in a matter of a week." His fear is enough to get permission. "Ok. Please help us!" "Oh I will. Where is the poor girl?" Just then I hear a terrified yell. "PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP!!!" I walk upstairs, pulling out my staff. Her mother was covered in soot and in a weary state. She had her hands submerged in water. "Stupid stupid girl." I mutter shaking my head. "You girl, remove your hands from the water this instant!" She screams and so does her mother, having not realized I walked in. I sigh and walk over pulling her hands out of the water. "No!! You can't!!! You don't understand!!" She screams shaking and panicked. "On the contrary child, I know more than you." I tie her hands and put a burlap sack over them. "What... What are you doing?!" She whimpers. "Fear not for I have come to help." Help myself that is. I'll use her powers to rule the world. Burning everything and everyone in my path until they surrender. "Ma'am, your husband has already granted me custody of the child. I'll help her control her Pyrokinesis." "God bless!" She gasps, happily. I laugh softly. He already has blessed me. "Hey who are you calling a child? You're only like 3 years older than me!!" I smile and laugh internally. Oh he wrong she is. "You've got a lot to learn, miss. We should get started right away." I swing my staff around us, creating a teleportation bubble. Instantly flashing us back to my lair. "What... How'd that happen?" "I am a mage. I can do alot of things." "Can you really help me?" She asks. I nod. "I'm very powerful." I say smiling.

"Sit down." He says pointing a dark leather couch. I nervously do as he says. "Why do you care to help me?" "Why do you ask so many questions? Just enjoy the blessings God has given you." I bite my lip, leaning back into the couch, the leather cool on my burning hands. He grabs a few books off of a shelf and walks over. "Your parents didn't know what they were doing." He says. He hands me one of the books. "Pyrokinesis." I read the cover. "What's that?" He laughs. "Pyrokinesis my dear is your gift." Oh. I glare at the book. "THIS ISN'T A GIFT! IT'S A CURSE!" He smiles not even phazed by my outburst or the fact my hands were lit up. He shoves me back down, my hands sizzling out against the cold leather. I stare at him shocked. "Don't you ever yell at me like that again. I can make your world a place you could never imagine. I am all powerful. You can be too f you let me help you." "Are you..... Evil?" He laughs softly. "If I was evil would I help a lowly peasant girl, save the village she lives in from being burned to the ground. My child, I'm certainly not evil." I breathe a relieved sigh, trying to calm down. He's right.

I laugh internally. Stupid stupid girl. Evil men lie.
