Chapter 17- A Forgotten Deal
Jason's pov
I couldn't stop thinking of Elizabeth and what she said. What she said is exactly what I was doing. I try to shake my thoughts when Arty and Vivian asked me to play ball with them. We go to the back pasture and throw a ball around. It was kinda boring to me but it put a smile on the children's faces. Mother walked out and said, "Go grab some vegetables from the garden for dinner." Arty raced off in seconds. Me and Viv walked further back. I was starting to wish I didn't when I felt someone shove me to the ground. I confusedly turn around to see a man, maybe 24. Oh shit. I completely forgot about this. After all it had been 500 years past for me. He withdrew a sword making me Vivian scream. "Are you forgetting something lad?" "I don't have any money Malachi." I say. "Well that's too bad!" He says swinging the sword and resting it against his arm. "Maybe instead of gold, we'll take little Vivvy here as an indentured slave." "No! I yell enraged, jumping up only to get knocked back from a tree branch by one of his goons. "Leave my sister alone!" Malachi smirked and grabbed a strand of her hair. She was shaking from fear. I almost miss the power I had. If I still had that, I could kill these cretins without a problem. He threw Vivian down beside me. "J-Jason I'm scared." I hug her tightly. "The master is very displeased with you." Malachi says with an evil smirk. Horror fills me. I wonder if my spells I learned would still work. Ones that weren't from the dark. They should work. I shakily say a teleportation spell, begging to the Gods for it to work and shockingly it does. Arty is super confused when we just magically appear beside him. "Don't ask." I whisper. He gets to working on the garden, looking extremely weirded out. Which I obviously can't blame him. But worry takes hold. I have to somehow destroy Malachi before he becomes what I was. I was digging up vegetables while having this dilemma run through my head. I pulled a carrot out of the ground and saw something shiny. It was a medallion of some kind with the words Per Bonum Virtutis on it. "Power through good." I whisper. It's Latin. I put it on. Maybe just maybe it will come in handy.
