Chapter 12- A Monster

Jason's pov

I pace back and forth frustrated and not knowing what to do or how to find her. None of my tracking spells are working. I have no clue where she is, what she's doing, or when she'll be back. Suddenly a all of fire Sparks up in the room and slowly dissipates revealing the fire wielder and her younger sister. The young girl collapses to her knees. "Where have you been?" I shout. She smiles. "Having some fun. What? Are you my keeper?" I glare at her frustrated. "I have had about enough of this!" I shout, stomping over, staff in hand. "Then maybe I am stronger than you. At least mentally." My jaw drops. Anger flares up in me. "You will never be stronger than me." I whisper growl, pointing my staff at her. "Face it, oh so powerful mage. You've met your match." She growls whispering an incantation. My staff flies across the room. Infuriated, I grab her shirt. She just smiled wickedly, not at all afraid. I have messed up big time. And I don't have a clue what to do. "Did you kill her?" I ask nervously. "Why would you care?" She responds. A door opens and I turn around to see Bobby struggling with the heavy wooden door. I grab her arm so she can't do anything. "Where's daddy?" The little 5 year old asks. She gets a wicked gleam in her eyes and I know she's about to say something to hurt the boy. I cover her mouth. "Don't you dare say what I know you're about to say." I growl, getting more angry by the second. "He uh he got in trouble kid." I finally figure out what to say. I'll never say it out loud but he reminds me of my younger brother Artimus. Everyone always called him Arty. God I miss that kid. I glance down at Maxine and say a healing spell. She slowly wakes up dizzy. "What's.... Where am I?" "Max!" Bobby yells. She whips her head around and struggles to her feet but Miranda kicks her in the stomach. The girl cries out falling to her knees. I yank we back. "Knock it off!" I shot annoyed. I call my staff to me. "Flipendo!" I shout making her fall backwards. I'm so done with this bullshit. I freeze her to the spot with a freeze spell and pick up the exhausted girl. She's almost unconscious. "Why're you helping me?" She gapes surprised. I don't even know why. "Your sister has taken things a little too far." She groans in pain. "Come on Bobby." I say, grabbing the boy's hand. "I'm scared." He says. I sigh. "I know." I take them both to Maxine's room and set her on the bed. "What'd she do to you?" "She... She took me to a huge maze." She whimpers, starting to cry. "Then she chased me, firing off all kinds of spells at me. It was horrible!" I've got to figure this out. I've got to do some kind of reversal spell. But I have to do some research first. "Don't go!" Bobby cries, clinging to my leg, crying. "I've got to." I say. "Please! What if she comes for me next?" "She won't be able to." I say forcing a smile, worried. I point my staff at the young lad and put a protection spell on him. "Now nothing can do harm to you." "W-What about Miranda?" "I'm gonna try to fix her. Look after Max for me. She needs you bud." He looks shocked then races to the bed. I close and lock the door then put a spell on it so she can't get in. I have to fix this. I will fix this. "You've grown soft, Jason." I jump in surprise and turn around. Her eyes are a deep scarlet, a golden ring of power around her. "What are you doing?" "I don't think you're fit to rule anymore. You can't satisfy the master." My eyes go wide, instant fury welling up inside me. "Don't you ever say that again!" "It's the truth. Why else would you care about some snotnosed kids?!" I don't know though. "How did you get free of the cursed ice?!" She smiles. "My power of course dummy." A guard stood at the end of the hall. She whispered a spell and I felt really weak all of a sudden. "What the hell?!" I yell. "Guard take him to the dungeons. I am the ruler now." Shock fills me. "What?! You can't do that!! I am the king!!!" "Not anymore you're not. Bye bye." She says tauntingly. "Oh and I'll take that." She says, snatching my staff from my heavy arms. I can't fight back weighed down like this. "Stop this!! This is madness!!" She laughs. "You sound just like my father!" I scream her name desperately as she orders to guard to drag me to the dungeon.
