Chapter 10- A New Voice
Jason's pov
I sat up with her, giving her something to drink every few minutes. I haven't been worried about someone like this since my family. I was exhausted, barely able o keep my eyes open. I felt her forehead. My eyes go wide. "Finally the fever broke!" I gasp sitting up, gladly. I lay down beside her, desperately needing sleep. "You'll be okay." I whisper relieved.
3rd person pov
Mary paced the small cell she was encased in. A shadow creature guarded the door along with one of the men from the village. The smoky shadow creature slowly dissipated, probably getting a call from it's dreaded master. "Pssst." The brave woman whispered. The man looks back at her. "You hate being forced under the rule of that wretched mage, right?" He nods, the look in his eyes fierce. "Let me out. He won't even know who did it." "What're you going to do?" "An excorcism to get my daughter back and then she'll kill him for doing that to her." He smiles and unlocks the gate. "And if you're caught?" "I won't rat you out." He nods.
Jason's pov
I groggily wake up hearing the door creak. The room was dark. I grabbed my staff and used a spell to light up the room. My jaw drops seeing Mary. She had a book in her hands. "What're you doing?" I gripe, standing up. The raged look in her eyes tells me she didn't come to apologize. My eyes go wide when she chants an incantation I don't recognize. I stood up worried, gripping my staff tight but torn. I can't attack her. I glance down at my sleeping girl worried. See recites another unrecognized incantation and suddenly I'm thrown back into the wall. My hands are pinned down. I can't move. I dropped my staff. I try to call it to me but nothing happens. "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!" I yell angrily. She smiles. "You aren't the only one who knows magic." She says. Shock fills me. No wonder I was so attracted to her before. She's Bewitched like I am! But.... By whom? It isn't the devil and I know it isn't her own God. She starts to say an excorcist chant. My heart stops with fear. The letters on Miranda's arms blaze red and she screams in pain. "STOP IT!!! YOU'RE GOING TO KILL HER!!" I yell desperate. My power is not working. I try so hard to get my staff as the girl I love screams in pain, her arms red as fire. I'm desperate. I'm scared. I need help far greater than my own. "Iyunimame!" I yell as loud as I can. The room instantly darkens, the scars on my arms glow black and I'm released. The pentagram in the corner of the room glows red. I smile. She's doomed now. I quickly run to my girl. Her breathing was fast. "Miranda wake up!" I gasp. I cool her arms down with my powers that have luckily returned. Thanks to my master. I help her up. "What's going on?" "You're about to witness real power." I say smiling as the portal opens and the master enters our plane. "Mother?" Miranda says confused. "She tried to kill you. Again. Now the master is going to make her pay."
Miranda's pov
I lean painfully on his shoulder. My arms hurting. "Why are they glowing red?" "Because your idiot mother tried to excorcise you." He says. I notice his are black. "Why-" I start. "Because I had to call on the master for help." Suddenly my mother screams. Her hands fly to her face. "Die vile woman." I hear Jason whisper. She explodes, shocking me. "Move on to the next town. Conquer it and keep moving soon you will take over the world and I will be free to walk the land for good." The whisper voice fills my head. "You can count on us master. You will be freed permanently." Jason says, kneeling and pulling me down with him. He vanishes and I can't catch my breath. He helps me lay back down. "Everything hurts, Jason." I say. He sighs. "I know. But she can't hurt you anymore." "Rest my daughter." The master's deep gravelly voice whispers in my brain. I close my eyes exhausted when I'm caught off guard by a calm voice whispering, "This is the wrong path." I'm so confused. But I remain quiet.
