Chapter One

The first thing I noticed when I got off the plane was that it was freezing cold. And I mean freezing.

I wasn't exactly expecting it to be hot, but the cold that hit me when I first got off the plane was almost painful.

I still had on my black leggings and tank top from the flight before and was definitely unprepared for the cold that hit me.

But that wasn't the only thing bothering me about moving to England.

Another reason was the fact I had to move away from all my friends. The people who I have been close to for the past 6 years of my life were half way around the world, continuing on with life as if me leaving didn't bother them.

Yet it was a sort of relief that I was finally moving away from something that I've wanted to get away from for a while now. I just never had the guts to say.

But I don't want to get into that now.

And also technically I was coming home. Considering I'm originally from England.

When I was 10, we moved to America for Mum's job. But now suddenly out of the blue, like she likes to tell me everyday, she just decided today was the day she wanted to come back home and stay. Forever.

Like she just randomly wanted to.

My brother and sister were talking quietly in front of me, bickering silently as they kept taking small glances in my direction.

I rolled my blue eyes and sighed, pushing my way between them, my long blonde hair swaying behind me, stopping their annoying little chatter obviously about me.

Mum turned round at my sudden appearance behind her and grabbed my wrist, telling me to keep up.

I trailed behind her anyway and looked back over my shoulder at my brother.

He smiled genuinely and I forgave him instantly, grabbing him around the waist as he put his arms around my small frame.

"It will be good for you to get a fresh start you know, Mia" My brother, Connor, slowly said to me.

"Please, you're only saying that because you think this is the only reason we moved. I know it's about that new band you're looking into as well" I looked up at him and he looked away, embarrassed.

"I know that it's not the only reason but this will be good for you. You just need to start a new and meet some new people" He smiled encouragingly showing his beautiful grin.

I smiled briefly at him before being called over by Mum to collect our bags. We all huddled over the conveyor belt, slowly waiting for the arrival of our suitcases.

--

Our new home appeared to my left as I looked out the car window. I stared at it, taking in the ornate black door with pretty white daisies surrounding the edge and the long driveway leading up to the front of the house.

The house had two floors and looked a lot bigger compared to the house I used to live in. I was glad I loved it at first sight.

We took the suitcases and other belongings in as we slowly took in our surroundings. As I first walked into the house, the first thing I saw was the front room, decorated with white leather couches and a plasma screen TV.

Boxes also invaded the living room, our other house's belongings taking over the new one.

I headed upstairs taking my suitcase with me, Connor and my sister Sophia not far behind me.

We slowly toured the rooms of the house, deciding on bedrooms and investigating what new rooms we had to decorate. I chose my room the first, deciding on the largest out of the three I had choice of with a large window allowing me to see into the dense forest behind the garden, with a window ledge suitable for me to sit on if ever necessary.

It also had a king sized bed, a large wardrobe and lucky for me, it's own bathroom. The wall facing the square shaped window was bare and freshly painted, and I was excited to decorate it with photos and collages.

The bed leaned underneath the window and the rest of the room was pretty much blank. My bookshelf was shoved into the corner and my precious books were packed into neat piles in boxes on the way to the house.

Now alone, I finally thought about one of the reasons why we were here. Yeah, Connor was joining some unknown band and Mums job didn't require her over in America anymore, but the whole family knew that the most important reason was me. Me and my stupid choices in life.

Connor suddenly appeared in the doorway, shirt slightly disheveled and skinny jeans tucked into his converse. He had his keys in his hand.

"Where you off?" I questioned, confused why he was going out already.

"The boys want to see me, get started on some new music and just have a catch up I suppose. You gonna be okay? I can stay" he looked worried and it annoyed me.

"Connor I'm fine, I'll just organise my room and have a shower. Go I'll see you soon" he smiled at my response clearly pleased by it and sauntered off out the door.

He always was protective of me, even more so now, but I didn't not like his protectiveness, it just sometimes got too overwhelming. But he was a good brother.

He was short for most boys his age considering he inherited my mothers genes, me included so I was the smallest in the family. Mum came next, then Connor and then Sophia, inheriting my fathers tall genes instead. And then of course dad would have come next. If he was here.

It took me all night to eventually organise the entity of my new room, but I was pleased with the end product. My wall already had a couple of pictures and my bookshelf was now intact with its books.

I'd placed most of my clothes in the wardrobe, but some lounged on the floor, waiting for me to put them away. Connor returned at around eight, announcing that his first band practice went tremendously well.

He also mentioned inviting them all round tomorrow.

My interest in Connor and his band was limited, but I always did wonder what they're music was like as well as the boys as individuals. I didn't even know their names, so meeting them would be a completely new experience.

I didn't really know why but I felt nervous thinking about being around three new boys in a new town. Then again it wasn't really a shock that they made me nervous, many boys did now.

I heard mum's approval of the boy's visit and then Connor saying he'd text them saying it was okay. I heard his footsteps on the stairs and he peeped his head in my room, still staring at his mobile screen as he said a brief hello.

His blonde hair was up in its usual fashion, but it was falling after a long day of staying upright. He brushed it out of his eyes with his fingers.

After he left my room after explaining about tomorrow's plans, I decided to get ready for bed.

I was glad it was summer and that school was well out of the way for a while now. It just would have added too much pressure.

I put on my boy shorts and white vest and then lay over the covers for a while staring out the window.

In all honesty, I wanted to meet the boys but I always was worried they wouldn't like me or they'd think badly of me. But I'd just keep positive and hope for the best.

Just hope.
