Chapter Seven

I couldn't sleep on the night after the incident in the forest.

One reason was because my thoughts were swirling due to a certain drummer, and the other reason was that this certain drummer was sitting downstairs.

Yes in my house.

Connor had invited all three boys round to our house after the little run around and they'd been happy to oblige.

Unlike me.

I had wanted to protest, and so had Tristan from what I'd seen in his posture, but obviously how could I when all four boys were constantly together.

I couldn't exactly blurt to Connor in front of the others that I didn't want them there.

How selfish did that sound?

So I'd put up with them till now, hiding away in my bedroom, listening to them laugh and joke downstairs as I lay tucked up under my covers.

I decided enough was enough at fifteen minutes past midnight, when I hadn't eaten anything since my time at James house.

I pushed the covers off my body, ignoring the fact that I was only wearing shorts and a baggy top in the warm house and deciding that there was no reason to bump into anyone when mum and dad were in bed, Sophia was at a friends house and Connor and the boys were busy talking in the living room.

I crept down the stairs, staying on my tip toes and tucking my hair behind my ears when it fell in front of my face.

I reached the bottom of the stairs and breathed in and out a couple of times, listening to the hushed voices of males in the room just facing me.

I passed the door successfully and made it to the kitchen without incident.

I opened the fridge door as quietly as possible, only having the light from the fridge to guide me as I walked around the room and picked up snacks to devour in my bedroom.

I poured myself a cold glass of milk and grabbed left over foods from tonight's dinner that I'd missed and shut the fridge door silently.

Whilst walking towards the door, a figure walked out of the living room and I stopped where I was, huddled in the kitchen door with a mound of food products enveloping my arms.

It didn't click who it was till his voice whispered my name.

"Mia? Is that you?" James. It was only James.

"Thank God it's you, I thought it was Connor or Tristan" I blew out a long breath as we continued to whisper, the boys not noticing that James was talking to someone.

"What are you doing? You could have come in you know" I saw James' teeth gleam in the darkness and realised he was smiling, as well as coming towards me.

"Let me help you" he grabbed most of the things from my hands, till I was only carrying the glass of milk and the Oreos.

I walked up the stairs in front of him and he followed till we reached my bedroom and he put the food on my desk.

"Thank you" I said quietly, not having to whisper any more.

"It's okay?" He stood in my room for a few seconds just looking awkward, till I finally realised that he was trying to tell me something.

"What's up Jems? Do you mind if I call you that?" The nickname came to me spontaneously and I liked it.

"Yeah. Sure. Whatever" he seemed extremely distracted as he wandered my room, looking at the pictures covering the walls as I sat cross legged on my bed.
