Chapter Three
I could hear loud music coming from downstairs already as I furiously slammed my door, my hands already running through my hair.
He was the most obnoxious person I had ever met.
And I hated him almost instantly.
But I couldn't hate him that much if he got that kind of reaction out of me.
Why was someone as arrogant as him making my heart flutter?
I was interrupted from my jumbled thoughts by the doorbell ringing.
I was surprised it could be heard over the noise but went on my way to answer it anyway.
It was a girl. Probably no older than me, with stormy grey eyes and luscious blonde hair.
It fell to her waist and she was smiling broadly, holding something I couldn't see in her hands as it was hidden by a cloth.
She was very tall and skinny, wearing leggings and a short dress.
"Hi" she squeaked out.
"Hey" I slowly replied, unsure of who I was actually speaking to.
"You don't know how much of a relief it is to actually find someone female around my age living next door" she laughed almost nervously and dropped her eyes to the object she was holding.
"What no one else our age lives round here?" I asked, genuinely surprised considering where I last lived, it felt like I never left me friends.
"Absolutely none, they're all either pensioners or way to young for me to be talking to, so seeing you here makes me feel as if my life just got a whole lot more interesting" she laughed again, more sure of herself this time.
I liked her instantly.
Her bubbly personality and positive attitude was contagious.
"Well I'm Mia" I said whilst smiling. "and the noise downstairs is my brother and his band" I rolled my eyes, keeping the smile on my face.
She had a glint in her eyes.
"Did I mention there's no interesting boys around here either?" She cocked an eyebrow, "So how old is this mysterious bother? And I'm Grace by the way" she balanced the still unrevealed object in one hand and shook my outstretched one.
"I want to say he's 10 to put you off but being honest, he's 18" I laughed.
Her eyes went wide.
"Oh god all I came here to do was meet the mysterious family and bring cookies and now I'm being told there's an eighteen year boy living here! AND I bet he's fit because you're absolutely stunning" she said whilst handing the box of cookies over to me.
They smelt delicious.
"I'm by no means stunning and I'm not going to agree that my brother is 'fit' as you like to put it because that's disgusting" I said wrinkling my nose.
She laughed and stepped inside the house.
"I live here with my brother, as you already know, my older sister and my mum just so you know, and you?" I said as she followed me into the kitchen.
"I live just next door with my mum, dad and little brother" she said whilst rolling her eyes.
She didn't react when I didn't mention a father in the house, and I liked her even more.
"So you going to introduce me to the mysterious brother of yours? And what is he in the band? Lead, drummer what?" she had excitement in her eyes and I laughed.
