I woke up early and got myself ready. It was results day, the day that also determined whether you wasted 12 years of your life or not. Jay had offered to take me there for support. I went downstairs when I had finished getting ready. I could feel the tension as my dad and Jay sat in an awkward silence. My dad looked at me and smiled.

“Good luck for today. I'm proud of you no mater what you get. And remember your mum is proud of you too.” Jay kissed his teeth and got up.

“You ready yeah?” I nodded. “come.” He walked out the kitchen. I turned back to my dad and smiled.

“Thanks.” I walked out the kitchen and saw Jay leaning against the wall typing on his phone.

“Bye.” My dad shouted.

“Fucking fool.” Jay mumbled. “He suddenly cares. He didn't care about you when his bitch was tryna run tings up in here.” He said louder, which my dad probably heard.

I opened the door and got out with Jay following behind. I walked into the school, waving at the occasional person. Some people looked at Jay with a funny look. I spotted Red from a far. I automatically looked down at her stomach, although it was too early to see anything. I quickly got my results and was ready to leave.

“Aren’t you gonna open it?” I continued to walk fast as Jay struggled to keep up with me.

“When we get home.” I said turning my head in his direction, still walking. I soon turned around and bumped straight into Chris.

“You should probably look where you’re going.” He said with a patronising smirk. I froze. Through the smirk I could still see that he was upset.

“I’ll meet you in the car.” I heard Jay say before he walked off.

“What you doing here?” I asked him interested. It took a while for him to answer.

“Red,” He shifted his weight to his other leg. She asked me to come and I was kinda hoping I’d see you.”

“Okay.” I stepped pass him and walked away. He held me back.

“Wait,” I pulled my arm away from him. “I'm sorry. I know I haven’t spoken to you in a long time. I was just going through some shit.”

“Chris, I'm your bestfriend, your sister, you're my Jaffa cakes.” He laughed. “Whatever shit you're going through, so am I.” He sighed.

“I know,” He pulled me in for a hug. “When can I see you muffin?” I shrugged.

“When you’re not busy playing happy families.” I mumbled. He pulled away from me and rolled his eyes.

“Don’t be like that. She’s pregnant with my child; she's also one of your closest friends.”

“Okay.” I said plainly. He gritted his teeth.

“You're making me angry, what do you want me to do?”

“Do whatever. I don't care. Cause when it comes down to it, you're never there for me.” He screwed me.

“Chat shit!” people began to look at us. “You always make everything about yourself. How do you think I feel knowing that I have a baby on the way? How do you think Red feels? Do you think I didn't hear about your little breakdown? Yeah I heard. I never came to dry your eyes or comfort you because you're selfish. The first thing you think of is yourself. You think because I'm having a baby, I’d forget about you, because you wouldn't be my number one priority. Get a life.” He stormed away from me, leaving me standing there. I wiped the tear falling down my cheek and walked out the school. When I got inside the car Jay knew there was something wrong and that he shouldn’t say anything.
