Michael kicked and struggled as the Masonin carried him God knows where. He tried to fight with all his might, only to get thrown roughly to the ground, kicked, and told to shut up every five minutes.
By the time he had finally given up, he was battered, bruised, and could feel blood dripping down his face. Hanging limply across the Masonin's back, he groaned softly in pain as his bitten arm and leg throbbed from the blows they repeatedly received.
Michael was suddenly thrown off the shoulder to a cement floor, landing on his back. It didn't hurt too badly but it knocked the wind out of him. While he lay there gasping, the tall man glowered down at him with dark colored eyes. "You'll be appearing before the Pegasus leader in a few short hours. Be ready to accept the charges, human."
The human gulped and scooted backward until his back pressed into cold metal. Turning his head, he could see bars surrounding him and when he looked back at the Masonin, he realized what this was. A jail cell. A cage would be a more suitable name really.
Michael stared with wide blue eyes as the door closed, locking him in the cell. Wrapping his arms tightly around his knees, he held them against his chest and wondered if Heath was alright. Wondering even if Donnie was okay since Heath would be devastated if he lost his only son.
His heart felt heavy. He felt like everything was over. His brain told him to give up, and let them kill him. But his heart told him to carry on and try to escape, and his gut said if he tried he'd surely be killed.
Looking at his bound hands, he remembered his knife he had tucked away in his belt. If he could maybe reach it, he just might be able to cut the ropes binding his arms together. Carefully, he tried to reach around his waist and felt around for the metal handle of the switchblade.
"Looking for this?" A male voice spoke and he snapped his head in the direction where a masonin stood outside the cell, the folded knife in his hand. It looked so small, like a toy in the giant being's hand.
Michael's blood ran cold, and he practically felt the color drain from his face. When he tried to respond, a meek squeak emitted from his throat.
The Masonin smirked and turned his back to the cell, letting the knife fall from his hand. The knife clattered to the floor and the sound echoed throughout the dimly lit room. The knife then slid across the stone and down a drain that was red with dried blood.
Michael swallowed loudly and took a deep breath, doing his best to remain calm. A loud creaking sound caught his attention, and Donnie and Heath were shoved into the dim room. He was glad to see his friends unharmed.
Heath was forced into a separate cell, and both Michael and Heath stared at Donnie, wondering what the others were going to do to him.
The male Masonin approached Donnie with a knife, and Heath glared at him through the bars of his cell. "If you hurt my son I swear to whoever is out there I will rip you apart!" Heath shouted with an angry growl in his voice.
The human was surprised at how angry Heath sounded. He'd never heard that tone from him. He looked at Donnie who didn't look fazed at all. Why wasn't he scared?
The Masonin, who Michael can only assume is just a guard, cut the ropes from Donnie's hands with a smile. "It's been a long time."
"It has. Next time you have to act like you don't know me, don't be so rough." Donnie said with a chuckle, rubbing his wrists as he looked back and forth between Heath and Michael.
"What's...going on?" Heath spoke quietly, looking back and forth between the guard and Donnie.
"Surprise!" Donnie laughed and grabbed the metal bars of Heath's cell. "Dad, I'm the leader. I put together the Pegasus. They listen to me."
Heath's stomach churned and he fell back, staring with wide eyes at the boy he raised. He'd brought a human into his home where the leader of human slayers lived. And he didn't even know. He felt so sick to his stomach now, and he placed a hand on his forehead, unable to think of any way to respond.
Instead, the Masonin turned to look at Michal with an apologetic look. He wanted to reach through the bars and hug the shaking human. Even the pain from his bullet wound didn't compare the painful guilt that now stung his heart.
Michael could only stare at the teenager, his whole body shaking. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Heath fall but was too focused on his own racing heart.
Donnie looked back and forth between his adoptive father and the human, folding his arms over his chest. "I'm sorry dad, but you can't protect him. He's a human. And maybe I wouldn't have let her shoot you, but you got in the way. All of them need to be exterminated so no other children get hurt."
"What about all the human children?! What about the young humans your group has killed?!" Heath raised his voice significantly, his eyes narrowed angrily.
Donnie didn't respond to Heath, only casting a glance to the side before he turned on his heels and left through the metal, creaky door. He didn't care. He just wanted to eliminate every human being on the miserable planet.
