What? Chapter Thirty already? Damn.

Even with Heath there, Michael felt uncomfortable under the gaze of the several giants surrounding them. He shifted closer to his giant companion, doing his best to remain as calm as he can.

He kept his eyes on the well-dressed man who introduced himself as Montgomery. Funny though. He wasn't at all like Michael pictured him to be. In fact, the only reason he felt threatened by him was because of the size difference.

"Heath has told me quite a lot. I understand some of it is personal, but I needed to know more about you before meeting with you. You have been in Donnie's 'lair' if I heard correctly, or am I wrong?" He spoke calmly to the human, taking a seat in a chair that was huge even without Michael's smaller stature.

The human turned his blue eyes in Heath's direction. Heath only nodded silently, giving him a gentle look that urged him to speak. Sucking in a deep breath, Michael faced the man and began to speak with every ounce of respect he could bring to the surface. "Lord Montgomery, you are correct. I was there. And it is a place I never want to go to again."

"Perfectly understandable. I can see just by your busted lip and bruised arms that your stay did not go well. That and the fact Heath's already explained. Now, can I ask you something? About your daughter?"

Michael's eyes widened. Had Heath really told these strangers about that? "I-I uh...sh-she..." Unable to form the right words, he ran a hand through his still damp hair and struggled to come up with an excuse.

"Calm down. I know what it is like to lose someone," Montgomery's look faltered briefly to a more solemn one before returning to a dignified, calm expression.

"She's not dead. Being her father, I feel like I would know for certain. I still have hope."

Montgomery and a few of the others in the room chuckled. "Interesting. Most humans we come across and take in have given up any bit of their hope."

Micheal looked around the room, unsure again what to say. "H-heath told me he would do all the talking, s-so forgive me if I seem a-a little unprepared."

A few other scattered chuckles bounced off the walls of the room.

The Masonin stood from his chair and approached Michael. "There is someone I would like you to meet. They are a lot like you. Ronald can show you the way, as you've already met him, but in the human's area, there is a door that is inaccessible to anyone. I'm sure Lester already informed you we have the poor thing Donnie perfected his immortality experiment on."

Michael's head perked up at the thought of getting to speak with another human. "I would greatly appreciate that, sir. I truly would."

"I had a feeling you might. Heath can go with you, naturally. As you seem like you are incapable of being separated from him," Montgomery's hand gestured to the two of them.

Michael just then realized he was still tightly clinging to Heath's leg and released his grip. "O-Oh!"

"Don't worry about it," Heath laughed heartily, playfully ruffled the smaller man's hair. "I don't mind at all."

Michael could feel the temperature of his face increase, but only turned his head away from all of the other Masonin's in the room.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

It wasn't a terribly long walk to where they needed to be, and the closer they got to where the humans stayed, the more Michael started to see.

A few greeted him cheerfully, a few kept their eyes down and let the Masonin with them escort them. But he didn't mind at all. It felt so strange being near people his own height again.

Ronald stopped in front of a door, his gaze drifting to Michael. "They're a little skittish. Try and keep a calm tone," he warned with a smile, stepping to the side as he knocked. "We have someone who'd like to see you."

"Come in," a soft voice responded from the other side.

Michael's eyes widened. No. There's no way.

Ronald pushed open the door, stepping off to the side to allow Heath and Michael to enter.

Michael's blue eyes landed on the small figure sitting up on the bed, her long, beautiful brown hair and own blue eyes locking with his instantly. Was it really...?

Heath said something, but Michael wasn't paying any attention to that. Instead, he took a step forward with tears threatening his eyes. It wasn't possible. Has she been here the whole time? Safe and sound after all the worrying? Impossible!

"Lucy?"
