As Michael realized what was happening, he couldn't bring himself to pull away. Something he'd imagined for the past few days was becoming a reality. His heart was all aflutter, pounding louder than a drum in his ears.

When Heath finally parted their lips, he was met with Michael's beet red face. He could feel his own face was red up to his ears. Why did he do that? He couldn't believe he just did that! It was an impulsive action and now that he was actually thinking about it, he regretted it. "M-Michael, I'm sorry."

Michael grasped Heath's arm with both his hands before the Masonin could turn away, using what little strength he currently had to keep him from moving away. Even with his face still flushed, he wasn't going to let him beat himself up over something that wasn't even a mistake. "Don't apologize." He whispered, ignoring the strain he could feel on his limbs from moving around too much.

With a surprised gaze, Heath met Michael's eyes and it wasn't hard at all to see what the human was attempting to tell him. Sinking to his knees, he folded his arms gently behind Michal's back and pressed him again into his bare chest. Embracing him like that just felt so right. He shut his eyes, feeling Michael's own arms snake what little they could around his back.

In only a single word, Michael was happy. The moment their eyes met after that kiss, it was days of unspoken words flooding out through their gaze. The warmth emitted from Heath surrounded him again, and this time he wasn't hesitant to return the embrace. He even buried his face right against the bare chest right in front of him. "I-I was so w-worried what your kind thought about this kind of thing, th-that I didn't want to tell you how I felt," he whispered, the arms around him tightening gently as he spoke.

A breathy chuckle passed Heath's lips and he looked down at the human in his arms. "Really? Well. Had I known that I wouldn't have taken so long. The same fear was running through my head."

Lester watched the two with a wide grin, his violet eyes sparkling excitedly in the light of the fire. "As much as I love the scene playing out before me, you both better rest and let your wounds heal some more."

Suddenly the two seemed to remember they weren't the only ones there, and Michael went to shove back but Heath kept at least one of his arms around the smaller being. "Right. Thank you, Lester. Michael lay down." He smiled warmly down at the human.

"You'll have to too," Michael spoke calmly, slowly letting himself fall backward with the help of Heath's arm that only removed itself when he was flat on his back on the blanket. It was little actions like that that proved he could trust Heath. That proved the Masonin cared about him in more ways than one.

Heath watched as Michael's deep blue eyes closed, but he continued to gaze fondly at the human even after he had chosen to lay down right by his side. "Lester, I-"

Before Heath could even voice his concern, Lester interrupted him. "I know. But I won't try a thing, really. Both of you get some sleep and I'll keep watch."

He met Heath's green eyes, and even though the other Masonin said nothing as he closed his eyes, it was clear that he was thankful.

Lester watched both the human and Heath for some time, only finally turning his attention to Donnie's journal he had decided to carry with him when Heath pulled and tucked Michael against himself.

Lester looked through the journal, delicately turning its pages and observing each experiment that Donnie had performed. Injecting chemicals, taking blood, giving blood. So much had been done to perfect his immortality that it was difficult to find just what would actually kill him.

At the building where the council resides, the immortal human was being taken care. However, she was also being subjected to experiments that were not as cruel as Donnie's but were still necessary to find what could kill the now immortal Masonin. It was pertinent to find what could rid the humans of their major enemy.

He studied the page with the successful test, reading through the chemicals used. This sort of thing was thought to be impossible, but maybe the scientists back at the Council had already figured it out while he was gone for the past few weeks.

Returning the book to his small satchel that he would carry over his shoulder, Lester stood from the ground and began to prepare for the walk that would take place tomorrow. It wouldn't be much longer until they arrived and needed to state what exactly they needed for both Heath and Michael. But there was no doubt the doctors and nurses would take professionally take care of their injuries. That and getting them to a safe place was his main priority right alongside decoding some of the text in the journal.

He took one last glance at the sleeping figures, the smaller one wrapped securely in muscular arms and chuckled to himself. "Quite the predicament they'd gotten themselves into. Both believing the other would reject their feelings."

Despite his skill and knowledge in plenty of other fields, love has been and always will be a mystery to him.
