It was a very peacefull day at the castle. Felix and Demetri where training, Heidi was fetching dinner, Alec was reading a book in the library while his siter and fiancèe where chatting. He was glad the two most important persons in his life got along quite well. Alec sighed and closed the book he was reading. He really wanted to go to his mate, but she had been distant lately. Every time they shared a kiss she felt distant, every time he pulled her close to his body she would pull away way sooner than she used too. Alec felt frustrated. He wanted to know what was wrong with his mate, what was bothering her. But most importantly, he wanted to fix it. Make her worries go away. Alec sighed once more before standing up and making his way towards the gardens. He started to pick a few bloodred and pearlwhite roses for his mate, hoping it would cheer her up and tell him what was bothering her. All Alec wanted was his maye to be happy and by his side. He wanted to be the reason she smiled, to be the reason she lived, to be the reason for her soft moans at night when they made love, to be the reason for everything that made her happy, laugh and smile. Just like she was his reason for all those things. She was the reason he felt alive again, she was the reason he wanted to return home from a mission as soon as it was finished, she was the reason he felt warmth whenever she was closely wrapped in his embrace. She was the reason of his whole existence.
As Alec finished the bouquet for his mate, darkness came over him, with Melody to be the last one on his mind.

Melody and Jane where in Jane's room spending some time together. Jane was quite a nice girl as long as you wouldn't cross her path, and it probably helped their like towards another that both females where equally sadistic. "So, when will your big day finally arrive? I know my brother is dying to be wed to you." Jane said while pouring another glass of blood from a winebottle into two wineglasses. Melody thanked her and took a sip as she thought about an answer. Jane watched her closely while also taking a sip. Jane knew how the past five years had been for Alec. Guilt was his main emotion besides sadness. When Melody had left Alec was a mess, and Jane felt pity for her brother everytime a glint of hope vanished when he thought theu had found his mate, only for her to be slipping through his fingers once more. He mostly let out his pain on prisoners, humans and with the excecutions. He would torture many of the prisoners in the dungeons until they would beg for death. He would kill the excecuted ones very slowly and painfully while their screams filled the whole castle. He would torture his food before draining them ever so slowly, frightening them as much as he could. Ofcourse Jane was used to Alec playing with his food, but mostly he showed a form of mercy by taking away their senses before draining them.
But even after all of that she forgave the girl, understanding fully well why she ran away. Jane would feel the same if she would be locked away in the tower. Melody sighed once more. "I am scared. Relationships, even bonding to another person has always frightened me. People I trusted always betrayed me in a way. I guess it still haunts me slightly. I guess I am scared the same thing will happen with Alec. Either he betrays me in a way, or I betray him. I am just frightened of the unknown. I always have planned everything in my life, Jane. And this I can not forsee nor plan to my will." Melody said being honest to her mate's sister. Jane frowned slightly bit nodded her head, understanding the girl. "Maybe you should take the risk though? I know Alec will be a good husband. Plus, if you don't take a risk how will you every know what the outcome might be." Jane said, giving Melody a small, reasuring smile. Melody took her final sip of blood and sighed softly. "I guess you are right. I guess also nothing will change that much right?" Melody asked looking at Jane. "Nothing but your last name. It will officially be Volturi then." Jane said, feeling relieved that her brother's mate finally gave in to her feelings. Melody nodded and stood up. "Thank you. I guess I will go and plan a wedding with Alec." Melody sais feeling confident after her concersation with Jane. Jane smiled and nodded her head in agreement as she watched the girl walk out of her room towards her brother.
Melody entered Alec's room, hoping to find him there since she couldn't find him anywear else in the castle. But he also wasn't in his room and Melody felt fear and worry rising in her. "Demetri, have you seen Alec? I can not find him anywhere." She asked. Demetri shook his head, but he also felt worry for his brother. It wasn't like him to not be found. Melody frowned even more. "Heidi will be here soon with our dinner. I am sure he will join us." Demetri said, placing a hand on her shoulder trying to sooth her. Melody bit her lip and nodded her head, hoping Demetri was right.
But Alec didn't show at dinner. After Melody had finished her third human she looked around the throneroom trying to spot her mate. Caius seemed to notice as he made his way towards his daughter. "What is bothering you, my child?" He asked. "Alec seems to be missing. If I may ask, has he been send on a mission?" Melody asked looking at her father, hoping he would confirm it but only worry flashed over his face. "No. There hasn't been anyone send today. I believe we may have a problem." Caius said looking at Aro who seemed almost as worried as Melody did. Demetri, Felix, gather as many guards as yiu can to be in large numbers but small enough to not be noticed. I am affraid Alec is in danger." Aro said. "I wish to come." Melody sais feeling worried for her mate. "Absolutely not! Not until we know what they are after." Caius said. "Melody felt like protesting but decided against it. Melody nodded her head and bowed before making her way toeards Alec's room, burrying ger face in his pillow.
Alec where are you?
