Lukes P.O.V

I'm finally 11, this is amazing! I can go to Hogwarts at long last! My best friend Calum turned 11 back in January but he waited for me to be old enough before starting. Both our bags were packed and we were rearing to go.

"Luke I'm nervous." Mumbled Calum as we stood staring at 9 and 3/4. 

"Don't be, we are in this together." I replied smiling bright at Calum as I took his hand.

"Promise?" He whispers still looking unsure.

"Promise." I answer grabbing his hand as we charge towards the brick wall. 

Before we knew it, we were on the Hogwarts Express sitting next to our other two friends Michael and Ashton. Ashton has already started school as he is older than us but he came and met us at the platform so we weren't alone. 

"Oh you have to try these they are awesome! However you want to be careful with them, when they say every flavour they mean every flavour. You can get the normal ones like chocolate, peppermint and marmalade but you Can get spinach and liver and even tripe. I brought some for Michael last year and he reckons he had a bogey-flavoured one." Explains Ashton giving me a packet of Bertie Botts jelly beans. Me and Calum each took one from the packet before looking at each and slowly putting it in our mouths. Not even a second later Calum was spitting his out trying to wipe the taste of his tongue whilst I was the complete opposite and wanted the taste to stay on my tongue forever.

"What did you get?" Asks a giggling Ashton from beside me.

"Rotten egg." Grimaces Calum still wiping his tongue with his hand.

"What bout you Luke, you don't seem to be throwing up?" Wonders Michael.

"Bubblegum." I reply giving off a big cheeky grin, rubbing it in Calums face.

"we're here." Announces Ashton waking us from our slumber.

"What time is it?" Asks Calum rubbing his eyes as he stands.

"Early evening I'd say." Responds Michael coping Calums actions.

Upon entering the dining hall, I was stood amazed at how big it was and just stood in awe before Michael gave me little push forwards.

"First years line up, line up!" we were ordered. I was stood next to Calum and a boy named Niall who hoped to be in Hufflepuff with his best friend Liam.

"I'm scared." Whispered Calum as we waiting for our turn to get sorted.

"Don't be, remember we are in this together." I remind holding his hand, giving it a little squeeze.

"Luke Hemmings." Yelled professor Mcgonagall. Gulping, I slowly walk up to the stall and take a seat.

"Ah another Hemmings, I know where to put you, GRYFFINDOR!" Yells the sorting hat.Sighing I run down the steps to take a seat next to my brothers who pat me on the back.

"C'mon Calum." I mummer as he goes and takes a seat on the stool.

"Ah now you're a tricky one. But where to put you is the question." Explains the sorting hat.

"Gryffindor." Both me and Calum whisper.

"Gryffindor you say? Now that's too easy. SLYTHERIN!" Exclaims the sorting hat yet again. Michael and Ashton who are also in Gryffindor give me a shocked look before mumbling to themselves. I stay frozen in shock.

"The sorting hat makes mistakes right?"I ask Ben and Jack.

"I'm sorry mate but it doesn't." Responds Jack sympathy shone in his eyes.

"What no. I promised him!! I yelled at them, "I promised him." I whisper looking over at a broken Calum.

Everyone knows Slytherin and Gryffindor hate each other. Slytherin always grow up to become evil but Calums not that! The next morning I go and take a visit to Professor Dumbledore's office to ask him bout it.

"Luke how can I help you? I hope you are settling in well." Wonders Dumbledore.

"Not really Professor, you see I think the sorting hat made a mistake. Calum doesn't belong in Slytherin." I explain following Dumbledore to take a seat.

"The sorting hat is very smart. It does not make mistakes. I do not believe Calum belongs in Slytherin however the sorting hat placed him there so there must be a reason." Responds Dumbledore putting a sherbet lemon in his mouth. "Would you like one?" Shaking my head no, I return back to the topic on hand.

"But Professor, I made a promise and with Cal being in Slytherin I can not keep it." Dumbledore smiles having another sherbet lemon.

"Just because Mr Hood is in Slytherin does not mean you can't keep your promise of doing this together."

"Wait how did you kno-" 

"Is that all Luke, I am rather busy?" He wonders. Nodding my head, I excuse myself going on the hunt to look for Calum.

After hours of looking for him, I give up going back to my homeroom and throwing my self in a chair, not before screaming into a pillow.

"What's up Lukey?" Asks Ben kneeling down on one side of me.

"Can't find your boyfriend?" Teased Jack  from the other side.

"I'm not in the mood, can you just go away." I groan putting my head in my hands.

"Fine, I guess you don't want to know where your boyfriend is." They mumble in unison standing up.

"Wait!" I yell stopping them from going to far. Smiling at each other they turn around grinning like a mad man. "What do you want?" 

"Cover for us tonight, we are taking some ladies out." Responds Jack winking at me.

"Deal, now where is he?" I urgently ask. Handing me a map, they tell me how to unlock it and to follow the footsteps."Can't you just tell me?" I moan looking up to see they have vanished. Stupid fucking brothers have to make everything so complicated.Well here goes nothing," Ii solemnly swear I am up to no good..." I mumble tapping the map with my wand. Slowly but surely, footsteps start appearing over the map with names next to them.Come on where is he? He has to be here somewhere... "There!" I yell with excitement as I spot calums footsteps heading towards the greenhouses. With a squeal of happiness, I sprint towards the greenhouses hoping to see Calum there.

"Cal!" I yell as he comes into view. He stood all alone just staring into the green houses.

"You're not supposed to be her Luke." Mutters a teary eyes Calum.

"If I'm not than neither are you." I chuckle stepping closer towards Calum.

"No, you're not supposed to be here with me. I'm in Slytherin and you're in Gryffindor. We can't be friends." Exclaims Calum tears pouring out of his eyes.

"I don't care.Your my best friend and quite frankly the best thing that ever happened to me and I'm not going to let what house we are in break that. I made a promise to you and I don't plan on breaking it." I declare pulling Calum in for a tight hug.

"Thank you." He mumbles against my shoulder. "Thank you for always being there for me even when I try and push you away. Thank you for being the best friend ever. Thank you, just thank you for everything."

"Anything for you." I whisper wiping away his tears, "We are in this together." I mumble leaning in and kissing his soft lips.

Sorry, I am a huge potterhead but for some reason I couldn't write a Harry Potter AU to save my life...
