"How the fuck are we gonna get five grand in-" Maddox glanced at his watch, "-twenty two hours?"

"I'm really sorry guys." Nathaniel said for the hundredth time since we came back from the school.

"It's not your fault." Zachari sighed, "we shouldn't have made you throw that rock."

"We didn't exactly make him." Flash pitched him. I turned and glared at him. He pressed his lips together and nodded, raising his hands up in surrender.

"Five thousand dollars, I've never even held more than three hundred in my hands." Emmet groaned in frustration.

"This is gonna be impossible." Jeremy muttered under his breath.

I chewed on my bottom lip and gently tapped my fingertips against my phone screen.

The time was ticking and we barely had any money. Together, what we had in our pockets was a little over three hundred fifty two dollars.

That's not even half of a thousand so I'm not sure we'll be able to get the money. We could tell Cassiel about it because then we'd only get in trouble. That was the last thing we needed.

"You just had to open your mouth didn't you?" Maddox suddenly snapped at Flash who flinched and dropped his phone to the ground.

"Can you stop?" I snapped at Maddox, "let's just ignore them. It's not like they know where we live."

"No, but they know what school we go to." Nathaniel pitched in.

"So fucking what?" I chuckled humorlessly, finding this whole situation stupid and a waste of time.

"Did you not hear what they said? They'll take you Clary." Vinnie frowned at me, his eyes full of worry.

"And you think they actually will? They don't know anything about us for all we know we're worrying about nothing." I insisted, standing up from my chair.

"I don't care if they were bluffing or not I'm not gonna put you in danger." Maddox argued back, standing up as well.

I scoffed, "look, I appreciate everything you're doing for me, really I do. But I don't need anyone to protect me."

"So, what? We're just supposed to sit here and do nothing?" Nathaniel snickered in disbelief.

"Exactly!" I exclaimed, "they're not gonna do anything and if they do then I know how to handle myself."

"You're insane. It was six grown man how are you gonna go against them?" Nathaniel scoffed bitterly and stood up as well. I chuckled humorlessly.

"I have my ways." I pursed my lips, "I'm not someone you can easily mess with, much less scare."

"Oh really, and why do you say that?" He asked, cautiously placing his hand over my shoulder.

I side glanced at his hand and placed my hand over it. His eyes softened slightly, no longer looking as frustrated as he did moments again.

"You can't protect yourself." He urged, his tone softer this time.

"I wouldn't keep talking if I we-"
