"One, two, three!" Klark yelled turning around from the post. Emmet froze in his spot and stared at him.
He squinted his eyes and slowly turned back around, "one, two-"
Emmet broke the space between them and smacked him hard on the back of his head and turned around, dashing back towards us.
"I got you!" Klark chanted, poking Emmet repeatedly since he failed to cross the line that indicated he was safe.
"I lost, but I smacked you so hard I'm sure they heard it all the way in China so who's the real winner?" Emmet wiggled his brows and smirked, skipping towards the pole.
"Guys, shouldn't we go back into the classroom?" Nathaniel commented.
We all turned to him and chuckled, "you're joking right?"
He cleared his throat, "i-it's just Mr. Porter could come back and it'll be worse for us."
"That's the point!" Zeke pointed at him and gently pushed his head.
"The adrenaline of rushing back in without getting caught is the exact reason we sneak out in the first place." Vinnie explained to him.
"So that's why we're here after school, in the empty parking lot playing some smacking game?" Nathaniel raised his brows in confusion and glanced at me.
"It's a fun smacking game." I smiled slightly and shrugged my shoulders.
"You guys really live on the edge." He muttered under his breath, running his hand through his hair and sat back down on the sidewalk.
"Except Maddox who volunteered to stay on watch if Mr. Porter comes back. What's wrong with him? Our Maddox never misses the opportunity to smack any of us." Flash questioned, eyeing the window where Maddox was.
"Maddox just doesn't like the idea of us hanging out with another guy." Jeremy whispered in his ear so Nathaniel wouldn't hear.
"He's high key jealous." He added.
"You need to shut up." I flicked his forehead and walked over to Zachari who was scrolling through his phone.
"Are you okay? What did your parents say about getting your first detention?" I asked gently, knowing the topic was sensitive for him.
Zachari had never gotten a detention, it might come as a shocker since all we do is destroy properties, vandalize them and pull pranks in school but we had never gotten caught.
Yesterday is actually the first time we did. Never had we gotten caught, or if we did we managed to run away before they could identify us.
Jeremy was right, Mr. Porter is gonna be a problem for us.
"They weren't too mad since it's my first detention ever. They did get mad at the reason why I got it. I'm grounded for a week." He sighed tiredly and locked his phone.
"I'm sorry." I gave him a side hug and kissed his cheek, "does that mean we won't be able to visit?"
"Yeah, doesn't mean you guys can't sneak in and see me without them knowing." He grinned cheekily. I cracked a smile and nodded firmly.
