"What did you two do over the break?" Jasper's question doesn't catch me off guard but it does cause my already rosy cheeks from the harsh wind outside to turn even more redder than before.
Nate isn't here yet so that means that he hasn't had the chance to talk to Jasper. Though I doubt he'd tell him about what happened between us. That didn't mean I didn't get all shy and giddily whenever I thought about it.
I clear my throat and flashed him a smile, "we spent time with the boys and my family." I reply simply and slide my backpack strap higher as it kept slipping off.
"The boys? Do they approve of Nate now?" He asked with a hint of worry in his voice. It was clear that he was a true friend to Nate and he didn't like anyone disliking his best friend.
"They always did. The majority of them anyways. Maddox was only worried about not being able to be at my side if things between Nate and I didn't work out." I explained to him. Trying to ease any mixed feelings he must have towards said boy.
"Were you two ever a thing? Maddox and you I mean."
I scrunched my face, "of course not."
"Really? You can tell me. It'll stay between us. It's just that Maddox's reaction seemed more of jealously than a worried friend is all." He says all this with a straight face and I exhale out.
"It's not like that. It never has nor will it ever. Maddox sees me as this little weak girl. It's always been like that and just that. He doesn't like me like that." I stated.
"How can you be so sure about that?" He pushes further and the topic becomes tense for me.
I give him a close lipped smile and practically sigh in relief when Nate finally arrives. His eyes were twinkling as he set them on me and the grand smile on his face caused me to blush, "morning baby."
"Morning." I smile and gasp softly when he leans in for an unexpected peck on my cheek. He smirks briefly before turning to his oblivious best friend.
"How was your break?"
"Mine? Nothing out of the ordinary. Hung out with my parents though I'm sure my dad wants me to marry our neighbors daughter." Jasper rolls his eyes back and shrugs nonchalant.
"What makes you say that?" I ask curiously, raising my eyebrows in question.
"Well, they invited us over for dinner the first night I was there and he kept pressuring me to make conversation with her but I refused." Jasper sighed and scratched the back of his neck.
"Why? Not your type?" Nate teased, nudging him in the ribs. Jasper shoves him away and flips him off. I laugh out loud and my boyfriend turns to look at me with a pout.
"I happen to think every girl is beautiful okay? It's just that I don't know her and he was suddenly pushing us together as if we've known each other a whole lifetime." Jasper exhales angrily and I grab Nate's hand, shaking my head sternly that said to drop it.
"Why don't we go to the cafeteria for some coffee? It's really cold today." I beam at them both and I was relieved when Jasper cracked a small smile.
Nate clears his throat and nods, "just make sure to blow on it this time dumbass. I am not getting another ice pack from the infirmary for your tongue again."
"It happened once, and that was the old me. That path is behind me now." Jasper speaks sassily and moves his head from side to side weirdly.
"Path?" I mumbled.
