{Year 11}

- 1:30pm -

"Here's your lunch ladies!"

James appears beside the table Emma and I had managed to snag, with three hot dogs in one hand and three bottles of soft drink in the other. He slides into the seat across from us and hands Emma two of the hot dogs. She passes me the one with shredded cheese, since she is lactose intolerant, before taking a massive bite.

It is the third day of our class trip up to the Gold Coast, and today we are at a waterpark. James, Jungkook, Emma and I, planned to go on every ride before the end of the day. My legs are sore from waiting in lines all day, and I haven't eaten anything since the buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning. I am starving. An arguing family pushes its way past our table, and Jungkook slips past them to sit beside James.

"It is too damn hot for autumn today," Emma complains fanning herself with a napkin.

I nod in agreement flapping out my shirt to dry the sweat on my back, and I wipe the sweat from my brow with the back of my hand. Going on ride after ride all day has me sore and tired but we only have a couple of rides left to do, and we leave the water park at four. Mr Brown warned us at the gates that anyone who isn't on the bus at four o'clock will be left behind, and I don't think he was joking.

"Hey Jungkook," I look up, mouth full of hotdog to see Lara hovering over Jungkooks shoulder, "can I speak to you for a moment."

He exchanges a glance with James before standing and following Lara over to a more secluded spot behind one of the food stalls. She leans against the wall, caging him into the corner as she twirls her hair around her finger. I can feel her eyelash fluttering from here. I tear my eyes away from them, and concentrate on eating my hotdog.

Things had been tense between Jungkook and I following the April Fools incident. The guys in my class called me 'Nippy' for most of the year, which was humiliating. They did it when passing me in the halls, so quiet that only I could hear them. Due to this, Jungkook and I didn't talk for the rest of year ten. Until the last day of school when the boys referred to me as 'Audrey' and nothing else. On that same day Jungkook turned up at my house playing a stereo loudly outside my bedroom window with an 'I am sorry' sign in his hands. I invited him inside for dinner and we hung out a lot during the school holidays, by ourselves and with James and Emma.

"What ride do you girls want to go on next?" James asks with a mouthful of hot dog, ripping me from my thoughts.

"What is left for us to do?" Emma asks, popping the last mouthful of hot dog into her mouth.

"Umm," James opens his park map, long fingers dancing along the page, "the Kamikaze, a tea-cup ride and the wave pool."

"I feel like we should end the day with something relaxing, like the tea-cup ride, so our stomaches are settled for the bus ride home." Emma takes a sip from her soft drink.

"You are the only one who has problems with travel sickness," James teases, and she gives him a hearty whack on the arm.
