A few days after Marcel had last spoken to Elena, she had finally made her mind up and decided to side with him. "I'm glad you're here" Marcel chuckled as he hugged her. "So am I" Elena beamed. She then pulled away from Marcel and noticed he was acting strange. "What's up?" She questioned. Marcel gulped as he fidgeted with his hands. "Spill" The hybrid ordered. "There's more than one reason why I wanted you in the compound" He confessed. "And why's that?" Elena asked. "Because I can prove that Klaus killed your friend" Marcel stated. "What?" Elena scoffed angrily. "I already asked him and he said he had nothing to do with it!" She squealed. "And did he get angry when you asked him? Because if he did then that's all the evidence you need. If he was innocent he wouldn't need to show his rage just because of one simple question" The vampire continued to speak. Elena swallowed thickly, lost for words. Had she really been tricked by someone she thought had changed. But then again, had he really changed?

As months past Marcel found more clues and evidence on Klaus being the murderer of Caroline however it was hard for Elena to take it all in. Hayley had given birth to a baby girl and was persuaded by Elena to stay with her and Rebekah in the compound where she would always be safe and protected. This had led to Jackson and Hayley getting married and living together in the compound with vampires who had a duty to protect their daughter, Hope. However this had brewed a dangerous relation between them and Klaus. Ever since Elena and his sister had decided to be of help to Marcel, he had killed many of the vampires that worked in the compound and wouldn't stop until Marcel surrendered.

At the Mikaelson house it was fairly quite. Klaus had left to wreak havoc amongst the citizens of the French Quarter, leaving Elijah alone. That was until a certain brunette showed up at his door. "Elena" He smiled, letting her in. "Morning Lijah" She smirked before pulling him in for a kiss. "He's not at home is he?" She then asked as she looked around, fearing that Klaus was hiding somewhere. "No he's out, supposedly up to his usual antics" Elijah chuckled as he led her into the parlor. "So tell me, how is my niece" He asked as he sat down next to Elena on the couch. "She's doing great. Hayley is an amazing mother and I hate to say it but even Marcel's vampires are a big help" The young hybrid replied with a smile. "You know, you should come down and see her sometime" She then suggested. "I will. Just when Niklaus has settled down a bit. He's still pissed at you all" Elijah informed her. "You could always dagger him and keep him in the basement?" Elena chuckled. "Oh you know I can't do that. As much as I'm tempted to" The original grinned softly. Just then, they heard the front door open and then shut with a bang before Klaus appeared in the doorway of the parlour. "Hello luv" He smirked at Elena. She rolled her eyes as she got up from the couch. "I'll see you later" She smiled at Elijah before heading out.

"Where were you? And what were you doing?" Elijah asked his brother. "Why do you always suppose I've done something?" Klaus scoffed. "Because you have that smug little look on your face Niklaus, do not test me" The brunette original replied with a hint of anger in his voice. "I just killed a werewolf that's all" The blonde hybrid smirked. Elijah shook his head as he glared at his brother. "Niklaus I am done trying to defend you. So if they want to take you down for this one then so be it. Because believe me when I say this, I will not think twice about putting you in a coffin for the rest of your daughter's life" He snarled harshly before exiting the room, purposely bumping shoulders with his brother on the way out.

Down at the compound, Marcel had found the head of the werewolf that Klaus had executed. "I am going to kill him!" He yelled. Rebekah gulped as she walked over to him, only to be faced with an image of pure horror. "That is definitely Nik's handy work" She sighed as she looked at the head, beginning to feel a little weary. "What's that?" Elena asked as she approached them. "It's not a what, it's a who." Rebekah whimpered. "His name was Cooper" Marcel then spoke. "Oh my god, did Klaus do this?" Elena scoffed in disgust. "Well of course he did it!" Marcel yelled. "Just like he killed your friend and just like he killed many others!" He snapped, causing the young hybrid to flinch. "We don't know if he killed Caroline" Rebekah stated calmly. "Then tell me Bex, who did? Because all signs clearly lead to your bastard brother!" The vampire shrieked before storming off. "You don't believe him do you?" Rebekah scoffed. "Rebekah, I know you love your brother and would do anything for him but are you really going to deny what he did when there is evidence right in front of us?" Elena asked timidly, scared of the Originals response. "Yeah. Maybe you're right." She replied before speeding away.

Elena sighed as she ran her hand through her hair. Out of all people, why would Klaus kill her best friend, even when he knew she loved her so much. "Lena" Hayley spoke as she approached her, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Oh hey" The hybrid smiled. "Where's Hope?" She then asked. "Asleep. I thought maybe you and I could go down to the bayou" Hayley grinned. "Sure. Let me just change my shirt" Elena chuckled lightly as she walked away. After changing her shirt, both brunettes headed for the bayou. "So" Hayley sighed loudly as they walked through the forest. "That werewolf. Klaus killed him" She stated. "Yeah" Elena whispered, too distracted by the thought of Klaus killing her best friend. She then heard a twig snap and turned around to see none other than the devil himself. "Hello ladies" He smirked. "Klaus" Hayley scoffed. "Were you following us?" She then quizzed. "No, I was simply going down to the bayou" He stated with a grin on his face. As Hayley was about to say something, Elena gently pulled her back. "You go ahead. I'll catch up" She smiled lightly. "I'll be waiting" Hayley sighed before walking away. "Klaus" Elena then spoke as she turned towards him. "Yes luv" He replied. "I'm gonna ask you a question and I want you to answer me truthfully" The young hybrid gulped. There was a minute or so of silence before she finally had the courage to speak. "Did you kill Caroline?" Elena questioned anxiously. "How many times are you going to ask me that stupid question!" Klaus howled. "Just answer the damn question!" The brunette snapped. "Yes I did!" The original roared, causing Elena to flinch as tears escaped her eyes.

She bit her lip, trying to keep her sobs in as she turned around to leave. "Elena wait" Klaus muttered as he grabbed her arm. "Let go of me" She growled lowly. "Just let me explain for gods sake!" He roared. "No!" Elena shouted as she pushed him away forcefully. "Get lost Klaus. I don't want to see you or speak to you ever again" She spat. The original stood there in shock for a few seconds before deciding to leave. "Okay" He whispered before speeding away. Elena sighed heavily as she fell onto her knees and sobbed loudly. It was one thing that her best friend had been killed, but it was another to find out that it was someone she thought she had fallen for.
