CHAPTER FIVE - TRIS

Four pulls me to my feet, and I brush myself off. My face turned a slight shade of red as I glanced at all the snickering faces, I stare and my feet and mumbled a few words beneath my breath. I looked up at him and gave him a small smile thanking him. He smiles back and gestures for the team to come in.

In the background I can hear cackles that I know all to well and turn around to face Christina and Will.

"A-Are y-you okay?" Christina laughs. She holds onto Wills shoulder for support. Will holds her waist so she doesn't fall.

"Yeah..." I look at her to Will, as my eyebrows knitted together in confusion "what is so funny that you need each other for support?" I asked trying to fight the colour rushing to my face. I probably look redder then a tomato.

"Will just said, what if Four likes her?" she laughs harder. Something inside my just deflated like a balloon, not even they believe that someone could like me.

I force a small laugh out of the back of my mouth, sounding more like a gurgle then a laugh. "Yeah" I try to laugh but I just feel hurt because they think it's impossible for him to like me. I know it's true, but it's still hurts.

"Where are we heading?" Four calls out to the group from the front. Uriah and Marlene take a step towards him and whispered something in his ear. "Uriah and Marlene think that we should go to the carnival to hide our flag. Who else thinks so?" He calls out as they step back.

I hear a bunch of mumbles throughout the crowd as I take a step forward ignoring the pain in my legs.

"I do" I call as my voice rings through the crowd "I think we should go to the carnival, it's not that far from here and there are plenty of good hiding spots." I says as I walk and stand next to Uriah. He huffs and looks me up and down and turns his attention back to the crowd.

"Anyone else?" He asks as they all just nod in return with a few mumbles in return, I walk with Uriah and Marlene watching them laugh and tease each other in a friendly way, everyone else follows behind talking in small groups. Four walks to my right incomplete silence.

Once we arrive Four goes and sits down on a carousel and puts his hands behind his head, and crosses his legs and gazes into the stars. I look at the deserted rides, and the boarded up buildings and try and picture what it used to look like. I picture it full of Dauntless, buzzing and extracting energy from their finger tips. I picture them going down rides and all fist pumping the hair and shouting out from excitement. I picture them all yelling and screaming as they go on a scary ride.

"No! We need to split up! Will are you listening?! We have half the group stay here and guard the flag, and have the other half go and find their flag! Common sense!" Christina argues with Will drawing my attention back to the group of people devising our plan.

"Chris, look. If we stay here and wait for them to come to us, we can then fight them off because we will all be here. That's common sense." Will fights back, she folds her arms and pucks her lips and looks Will up and down.

"Uriah, what do you think we should do?" She asks and walks towards Uriah and places her arm on his shoulder. He looks surprised and looks at Marlene for help, she is too busy starring up at the sky, watching the clouds go past the night stars.

"No, no, no, no, don't bring me into this. Your argument, I ain't getting involved." He says shaking his hands and pulls free from Christina, he walks over the Marlene and stands beside her, she pulls her head from the clouds at grins at everyone.

"Marlene?" Christina asks.

After that I stop listening and draw my attention to an old Ferris Wheel. I can't help myself from walking towards it. I can't resist the urge to climb it, I hope this doesn't show my divergence. As I walk towards it I feel a rush of adrenaline come over me, I break into a sprint and when I finally reach it, I place my hand on the rails to test their strength.
