Anna
Back to reality.
Actually, it's been three days already since the overwhelming gorgeous expensive date has happened.
And for some reason, Luke has been missing-in-action.
I mean, he hasn't been showing up after that day.
Yes, we're communicating through phone texts and calls. But because of his sudden disappearance, his abrupt busyness, we still haven't talked about my past, my issues and my scarred life.
And that's making me have second thoughts of whether I should really tell him or not. The days are making me want to backslide on my own words! I hate it.
Besides...well, um, how do I put it,
I - I...
I don't want to admit it!
"You're missing him!" Cindy blurts out. And yes, she's back. Well-polished, skin tanned, shining, shimmering, splendid - that's how she looks like after a week spent with her family.
"Come on, admit it, Annie!" she's been hitting on me since Monday.
"I don't, Cindy." I say with a monotone voice.
"Hm, trying to conceal it, huh?" I'm not.
"I'm gonna go to the restaurant, you?" We've already reached the front gate of the school. Changing the subject, I have to make another topic.
"Aww, I'm already hating this, Annie!" she pouts.
"What?" Looks like she's on it.
"This. We don't go walk together anymore, don't go home together - you don't even have time for me anymore!" she's whining like a child that has lost her candy.
"I won't let you go!" gripping my wrists, she blocks my way to the direction where I supposed to go. As if that would do.
"Cindy, let me go. I have to work now." I calmly say.
"No! No, no, no, no, no!" I know why she's being like this again. She's right. We don't get to spend more time with each other since the last week. I've been so caught up again in my own head, trying to make straight my paths, getting happy, with Luke...but in the end, I almost forgot to also pay attention to her.
"Annie, Annie, Annie!" I smile at her cuteness and vulnerability that she doesn't care to show in front of me. I know how she needs me, I can feel that sadness in her, but she kept on enduring it - for the past two days since she got home from the vacation.
True, I might not know what kind of life she really has. Whether she truly enjoys living with her family or not. Or whether she's truly happy or not. But one thing is for sure, she holds me dearly in her heart. And so she is on mine.
"Alright, I'll bring some snacks later when I get home, we'll stay the night in my room." I speak. But I think she hasn't gotten what I just said.
"Annie! No, I told you - I won't —" she stops on her mid-sentence.
"Deal?" She's now staring at me, not moving, not even blinking.
5, 4, 3, 2...and...1
"What did you just say?" she finally speaks.
"Do I really have to repeat it?"
"Yes. I might have heard it wrong..." she seems lost.
"Alright, guess I have to. Listen, when I got home, I'll bring some snacks, we'll stay the night, in my room. Got it?" she's just nodding —
