"What the hell?" Shawn asked as he buckled his seatbelt. I just stared straight ahead. "Katie! Please tell me. I know you wouldn't just hit someone like that over something stupid." he said, his voice calm and caring.
"I know you'll be mad that I didn't tell you all that happened before." I said quietly.
"Babe, I'll be okay. I promise." he said, looking at me for a second before turning his gaze back to the road.
"Well, first of all, Miranda and Aaron helped Crischen with the second kidnapping, and also helped torture us. That's where all the anger came from." I confessed. I looked over and saw Shawn pinch his lips together tightly, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the steering wheel. I put my hand on his thigh and squeezed it comfortingly. His grip loosened but his face was still contorted in anger.
"What else." he asked quietly. I sighed.
"I kissed Hayes." I whispered. The car came to a dead stop in the middle of the road. The car behind us honked and drove around us.
"You what." Shawn said, becoming even more enraged. I felt a tear fall from my left eye, followed my many more.
"I thought you were dead! Taylor kept saying I had to learn to love again. It didn't mean anything, I promise!" Shawn looked at me, his face held a mixture of emotions.
"You can drive home. I'm walking." he spat, walking out of the car and slamming the door. I ran out of my car and tried to grab his shoulder. He whipped around and looked at me angrily.
"Don't talk to me, Katie. I thought you were supposed to give me all of you." With that, he stormed away in the direction of the beach.
"Shawn!" I called out uselessly. He didn't even turn around. "Please." I whispered as I turned back to the car and drove myself farther into sadness.
When I arrived at the house, Shawn was nowhere in sight. I wiped my eyes with a paper towel and sniffed a couple of times before dragging my body upstairs. I couldn't feel my limbs. I felt numb. I walked into the bathroom and turned the shower on as hot as it would go. I stepped underneath the burning water and pressed my forehead against the cold tiles on the wall, hands on both sides of my head. I felt tears stream out of my eyes and I sobbed openly. I felt myself slump to the bottom of the shower and I layed in the fetal position, wrenching in sorrow until the scalding water turned ice cold.
I stepped out of the shower and patted my body semi-dry and didn't even bother with my hair. I just put on one of Shawns hoodies and layed on top of the bed, falling into an uneasy sleep. I awoke at around 3 in the morning and decided to see if Shawn had returned. I took off his hoodie and got into my own clothes. I walked down the stairs slowly and searched every spare room in the house. The house was empty. I dialed Taylor's number to see if Shawn went to that house.
"Hello?" he said groggily.
"Taylor! Is Shawn over there?" I asked, biting my nails nervously.
"Yeah, why?" he asked after yawning.
"Just wanted to make sure he was okay." I said, hanging up. I walked into the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water and downed it quickly. I refilled it and stepped out onto the back porch, watching the moon as it rested high in the sky, casting it's reflection onto the ocean. I sighed and walked down onto the shore. I sat down with my feet in the water. After watching the water for a while, I just layed down and gazed at the sky.
"All your perfect imperfections," I sang softly to myself, feeling a lone tear trail across my cheek.
