When I awoke the next day, I checked the time and found out I'd slept all day. I guess crying for hours will do that. I thought as I rubbed my eyes. I stretched my aching body and walked into the bathroom. I stared at my reflection in the mirror and thought about what I could do to fix it. Maybe a hair cut. I thought as I ran a brush through my tangled hair. I really should've brushed it last night. This is horrible. I spent a good half hour yanking a brush through my hair until it was smoothed out once again. I then grabbed my toothbrush and some toothpaste. I brushed my teeth until my morning breath was gone. After I had my face washed, I threw my hair into a ponytail and headed downstairs. I found a note on the counter that read:
Katie-
I'll be staying with Taylor for now on.
-Shawn
I grabbed the paper and crumpled it up angrily. I tore it up and threw it in the trash. I need to get out. Maybe to get some donuts. I nodded to myself and rubbed my face. I ran out of the door and hopped onto my bike. When I arrived at the little donut shop, I locked my bike up and walked through the front doors. The sweet smell of donuts and coffee flooded my senses. I walked up to the counter and said hi to the cashier.
"Hey, aren't you that girl who was kidnapped twice?" She asked me. I swallowed thickly and nodded as I stared at the counter. She put her hand on mine and I looked up at her.
"What's troubling you, hun?" she asked, a slight southern accent trickling from her lips. I smiled at her weakly.
"Everything." I said plainly. She opened the swinging door to allow me in behind the counter.
"My name is Brittany. You need someone to talk to. Come on. Its my break time anyways. Megan! Your shift!" She called to a young red headed girl. I smiled at her and walked with Brittany towards the back of the donut shop. We exited through back doors and sat down at a small patio set. "Tell me." she said as she rested her head in her hands. I sighed and nodded.
"Okay. So during my last visit here, My boyfriend was shot here. Do you remember?" I asked Brittany. She nodded. "Well I was taken then. I had no idea if he was still alive. Well one of the people I was kidnapped with kissed me. I told Shawn and he got so upset about it. I just don't know what to do about it. He said that he doesn't want to talk to me anymore. I'm so scared and I just don't know what to do without him." I confessed. Brittany nodded slowly as she tapped her finger against her bottom lip.
"You need a hobby. Something to get him off your mind." she confessed. I shrugged and looked at her.
"Like what?" I asked. She pondered for a little before smiling at me.
"You can sing. I've seen your YouTube videos. Sing here at the Donut Palace and get paid." she said. I shook my head.
"It's one thing performing in front of a camera. Its another performing in front of a crowd." I said frantically.
"Just act like your in front of a camera." she said simply. "Go get your guitar real quick." Brittany pleaded. I shrugged and walked through the shop and unlocked my bike. When I arrived at the house, I ran inside and grabbed my guitar, strapped it over my shoulder, and rode back to the donut shop. When I found Brittany this time, she was sitting at one of the tables talking to one of the customers. I sat in a chair at the front of the shop and began to tune my guitar. Brittany walked over to me.
"What songs do you know?" she asked, leaning on my chair. I shrugged and thought for a minute.
"Say Something." I said. She smiled and patted my shoulder before walking away.
I began to strum the first notes and the majority of the crowd turned their attention my way. I felt a blush come upon my cheeks as they stared at me. I smiled and began to sing the first words.
"Say Something I'm giving up on you..."
I didn't realize I was crying until I tasted the saltiness of tears.
Ring Ring
I dropped my guitar.

Well shit.
Have a nice day. (:
