First off, my parents gave me the sex talk when we got home. They thought it was best to do it right away, especially before the start of a new school year. I was mortified. Most of it didn't even pertain to my particular situation, but I couldn't tell them that. I mean, I didn't want to just tell them that.
As if that wasn't bad enough, I actually did think about sex. Often. But I only ever thought of Klara and she was a little over 1,000 miles away. What was a girl to do? Well, I did have an answer to that. Thankfully Klara's lesson in self-serving paid off, but to be completely honest it was not at all the same. Imagining Klara and Klara actually being there with me provided two completely different feelings.
School was difficult. All of my friends seemed to have boyfriends. They were content with me in the beginning, seeing as Klara kept updating me on how "Erik" was doing, but now it sucked on a whole new level seeing them cuddle with and kiss their boyfriends, while my girlfriend was out of arms reach until June. My friends, of course, picked up on my sense of gloom rather quickly. They immediately tried to cheer me up with trips to the mall, movies, and sleepovers. Sadly, none of these things seemed to help me get over missing Klara. That's when they hatched a new plan.
Beth had an older sister named Shay who was twenty-three years old and in college, but she went to a school nearby, so she still lived at home. Beth suggested that we take a road trip one weekend and goes visit "Erik." You know, since he was only a few hours away and all. Strangely? My parents agreed to let me go as long as Shay was the one taking us. She was a good kid and they trusted her enough.
It took me half a week to come up with an excuse not to go. My excuse? "Erik" and I simply got in a fight. I told him about my plans to come see him and he told me he was going to be busy that weekend and I got mad, because I never get to see him during the school year and I wanted to make it a special trip. My friends totally bought it. I was saved... for the time being.
