After my family had met "Erik" they weren't as persistant about

him. I think they figured that one visit was all they were going to get. I

couldn't say they were wrong about that. I guess it didn't even matter,

though, after a while, because everyone was distracted by other things.

For exmple, Anna and Alice decided that they were more special

than everyone else. They had hit double digits, the big one-zero, and

since they were twins, they also decided it meant they were the combined

age of twenty years old. There was no real logic behind that, but

nontheless they wouldn't be content if we didn't find a way to celebrate

such a momentous event in their lives.

In all honesty, their birthday had happened months go, but they

wanted to share the experience with the Jacobs family as well. On this

day my father went into town and picked up a bunch of cheap, dollar

store decorations and we decorated outside around the picnic table.

It was strange, celebrating this day with them when we hadn't

even celebrated the day Klara officially became an adult. She didn't seem

to mind, but I felt that if we were going to do something special for Anna

and Alice, then I had to do something special for Klara.
