By Tuesday we already had the story all straightened out. My new boyfriend's name was Erik Halverson. He was sixteen, had his own car, went to school in another city a few hours away, he was a writer, he played lacrosse, and he was super cute. Klara even sent me a picture of her friend Jason back in New York so I could show my friends some kind of "proof."

"Are you sure this will work?" I asked.

"Yeah, totally. If they ask why you two don't talk on the phone just tell them that he's a romantic and he likes to hand write his love letters. We can work on our boyish handwriting over the summer and create a stack for you to take back with you."

I leaned over and kissed Klara quickly.

"When did you get so clever?" I asked.

She shrugged.

"I've been in a few plays back in New York. I guess you could say that along with the acting, a good play isn't very believable without a few really good props."

"Girls! Come down stairs," my mother called up to us. "There's something you need to see."

Klara and I stood up and ran down the stairs, hitting the ground with a thud as we both jumped off the third from the bottom. Our families were in the living room. The TV was one. To my horror, the screen showed me when I was only a toddler, running around the yard in a pink floral dress.

"What is this?" I asked.

My mother patted the empty spot next to her and so I joined both of my parents on the couch.

"Seems your father and Mr. Jacobs thought it would be a good idea to share their families with each other, since they didn't get to see each others kids growing up, and all of the changes everyone has been through."

"Do we need to?"

My dad laughed.

"Oh come on, Sadie. You'll get to see the Jacobs family next, and I'm sure Klara was just as adorable as a baby as you were."

I rolled my eyes. Klara, who had taken a seat by her own parents, hit her face behind a pillow.

"I don't know why you're all embarrassed," said Caleb. "I love that people get to see how cute of a baby I was."

Our parents all laughed at this. Of course Caleb would want to show off his cuteness. I would have too, but not in front of Klara. She didn't need to see the video of me parading around in my underwear, or dancing in my crib, or the one of me singing along to Britney Spears wearing a sparkly dress and holding a hairbrush in my hand for the microphone. It was embarrassing.

I guess the only positive side was that I got to see videos of Klara too. There was one video of her learning how to walk, which was pretty adorable if you ask me. There was another one of her on her birthday where she was picking up handfuls of cake and stuffing it in her mouth. My favorite video, though, was the video of her when she was only five years old and learning how to ride a bike without training wheels. As her dad pushed her along her hair was blowing back in the wind and she had a big smile on her face. It was cute the way both of her front teeth were missing. She was so happy to be able to ride that bike. Once her father let go she kept on going and going. Her father had to run after her to make sure she didn't crash.
