Lex
After our date, Piper and I got closer. So close, she was mine, and I couldn't be happier. Just everything about her was terrific, especially her lips, which I enjoyed thoroughly any time I got a chance.
"Lex, we need to work on this assignment," she said, pulling away. We were sitting on her bed and enjoying ourselves nicely.
I laid my arm on her shoulder. "Can I help it if you have irresistible lips?" I asked her as a smile played across my lips, and I twirled a strand of hair around my finger.
"Well, we also need to get this assignment done too. I'll make you a deal. We finish the assignment; then, I am all yours," Piper said to me with a smile.
"So, that means I can do this?" I asked as I leaned into her neck and placed a kiss on it. "Or this," as I moved to the next side. "Or this," I added as I pressed my lips onto hers, taking them altogether.
She started getting into it then stopped. She pushed me away and rolled her eyes. "Nice try, mister, but first work."
"Fine," I groaned, and we went back to our work.
While we worked on homework, Larkin was at the bakery helping Ma and Dad out. They figured if she were there, then maybe she would talk to them. She didn't, and they didn't push.
Nixon walked in. "Hey, kiddo," Nixon greeted Larkin.
"Hey Uncle Nix, Dad's in the back," she pointed to the kitchen as she wiped tables down.
"I'll see that twit in a minute. I wanted to check up on you. You okay?" Nixon asked her.
"Oh, you know, I'm me. What's more to say?" Larkin asked.
"Have you given any thought about talking to the person I suggested?" He asked her.
She shrugged as she played with the rag.
"Lark, I know it's hard for you to talk to someone, but trust me, it will help but only when you're ready. Trust me; I know."
She looked at him, "What do you mean?"
"Why don't we sit, and I will tell you?" He suggested. They took a seat at the table. "When we were in college, some things happened, and I had an issue with drinking. It got so bad they kicked me out, and they sent me to rehab."
"But Uncle Nix, you don't drink," she said to him.
"Not anymore, but I did. I used alcohol to deal with the problems. It was easier than facing them. I put Nathan and Noah through hell because of it. Your dad and I weren't talking, and your aunt and I had broken up. It was a mess. Your grandparents came and got me. They brought me home, and I had to go to rehab. At first, I wouldn't talk to anyone because I didn't want to admit I had a problem, but then slowly, I did. It took some time, but I understood why. It was also around that time I decided I wanted to become a minister. Things got better, but I also realized people need help, and that's when someone suggested the person who could help me when I had someone that needed professional help. Trust me: he's great," he finished.
She looked at him and sighed. "I'm just not ready yet."
"Well, when you are, let me know," he said, smiling at her. "Now, I must find your twit of a father." He got up and walked towards the kitchen. "Hey, twit! Are you back there?"
"Yes, tool," Dad yelled back.
Larkin got up and walked towards the counter. She walked behind the counter to straighten up the cases when the door chimed.
"I'll be right with you," she yelled as she finished up what she was doing.
"Take your time," they said as she closed the case and stood up only met by a guy with dark hair and the prettiest blue eyes she ever saw. He looked to be about six foot one with a lean muscular build to him. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a black tee-shirt.
