Lex
After the fire, Ma and Dad had to meet with the Fire Marshall. An investigation needed doing on the bakery for them to submit a claim to the insurance company.
My sisters weren't talking to my parents or uncles. I could see their point, but I could also see my parents' point. Everything was a mess. Even the others tried to reason with them but no success. My sisters were stubborn. They got that from Dad.
Dad kept getting messages from an unknown person too.
I hope you enjoyed my gift. Too bad the abominations didn't burn with it - unknown.
When I find you, I will kill you.
Good luck with that. Regrettably, you think you will ever find me. Those were warnings - unknown.
Stay away from my family.
Ah, now that's your problem, thinking people will heed your warnings. You never look at the obvious. Well, you were never bright, were you? - unknown
I'm warning you.
We'll be in touch - unknown.
Dad threw his phone across the room as Ma walked into the bedroom. He rubbed his face in frustration. She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him as he placed his hands on her arms.
"Mags, we need to find this person," Dad told Ma.
"I know, babe," she said as she leaned against his back.
"They have caused so much damage, and our kids are suffering because of it. Were we wrong for not telling them?" He asked her.
She pulled her arms away and turned him to face her. "Listen to me, Nashville. We did what we thought was right. As parents, it's our job to handle situations like these, and no, the kids don't always need to know."
"Mags?" Dad said.
"Yeah?" Ma asked.
"Please don't call me, Nashville. It's weird when you do. It sounds like Ma and Grammy talking to me," he said, causing her to giggle.
"Nash, in all seriousness, though, they need to understand they will not know everything. All we can do is try our best with them," she reasoned. He pulled her to him, kissing her.
I couldn't help but hear all of this. My sisters needed a little reasoning or a right smackdown. I'm going with the latter. Who better to give it to them then the once person I know that could?
"Nathaniel! I will beat your ass if you don't give me my damn keys. I will beat you with my cane!" Grammy yelled at Grampa.
"Ma! The doctor said no more driving!" Grampa told her.
"That Doctor is a quack and needs shot!" Grammy informed him.
I walked into yelling.
"You have run into a mailbox, hit a car, and almost ran over a dog!" Grampa reminded Grammy.
"What's your point?" Grammy asked him.
"That was just pulling out of our driveway!" Grampa yelled.
"Well, they should have gotten out of the way!" Grammy insisted.
It looks like Grammy is at it again. I walked into the living room to see them arguing. I just stood there for a minute while they carried on until they saw me.
"Hey, Lex," Grampa greeted me.
"Hey, Grampa, Grammy," I greeted my grandparents.
"Hey devil child," she smirked.
