Lex

A few weeks after graduation, our parents threw the seven of us a party at Nana's and Grampa's house. They invited everyone. The only person who didn't come was Michael. I asked Piper about it, and she said he had to work.

We all had a good time; even Grammy did too.

The party was in full swing until Dad finally made an announcement.

"Can I have everyone's attention?" Dad asked, getting everyone's attention.

We all stopped and looked at him.

"Thanks, now with the quints, Frick and Frack having graduated, we also found out Marshall, Murphy, Noel, and Niall will head out to college in the fall. As for us, parents have decided that the eleven of you will have two houses. Kaiden and Kain will live with the quints while the other boys will share a house," Dad explained.

"And Piper and her cousins will stay in a third house right by all of you," Mike added.

I looked at Piper, and we looked at each other and smiled. At least, we would be close.

When Dad announced that I was super excited, then I looked at Daniel. He didn't seem happy.

"Babe? What's wrong?" I asked Daniel.

He looked at me. "I wish I could be with you. You all have things planned and a place to stay. You have people to stay with," he sighed.

"Maybe I can ask my dad and uncles if you can stay in one house. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind," I said.

He looked at me. "You sure?"

"Yeah," I smiled. Daniel's face seemed to light up at that.

We walked over to Dad and Uncle Noah, who was talking, "Dad?"

"Yeah, hun?" Dad said.

"I was wondering if it would be possible for Daniel to stay with Noel, Niall, Marshall, and Murphy at school," I asked him as Noah looked at us. They noticed Daniel fidgeting next to me, looking anxious.

Dad looked at Noah. "Well," he asked Noah.

"Let me ask Nathan. Hey, Nathan!" Noah yelled to Nathan. Nathan walked over to us. "Lyric wanted to know if her boyfriend can stay with the boys up at school?" Noah asked him.

Nathan looked at us and noticed how Daniel was acting. "I don't see a problem with it."

I smiled and hugged all three of them. "Thank you so much!" We walked away as they watched us.

"Something is up with that boy," Noah said to them.

"Do you think that was a good decision?" Nathan asked him.

"God, I hope so," he sighed.

Dad listened to them as he watched Daniel with me. Where I went, Daniel went. It was like he clung to me, where it relaxed everyone.

"Give me a minute," Dad said to Nathan and Noah. He walked away and over to Maverick, pulling him aside. "Maverick, can we talk for a minute?"

"Yeah sure," he said, walking away with Dad and going inside. They went into the kitchen.

"What's up, Nash?" Maverick asked.

"I'm just going to get to the point. What's up with Daniel?" Dad asked him.

"What do you mean?" Maverick asked.

"Maverick, I know you're studying psychiatry. What gives?" Dad questioned him.

Maverick took a deep breath then said, "Nash, I can't tell you. He's Jordan's patient. What I can tell you is he came to see me, and I handed him off to Jordan."

"Maverick, it involves my daughter with him. I need to know what I'm dealing with," he said to Maverick.

"Nash, I can't. HIPPA prevents me from discussing patients. If I tell you, I will go against the law and could get banned from practicing. All I can say is if Daniel wants to tell you, it's up to him," Maverick explained.

Dad conceded to Maverick. Jasper was the same way. Even it prohibits Jordan from discussing patients with anyone if he was their doctor. It was a decision that they would later come to regret.

Later on, as the party was winding down and most of the people left, we all hung out discussing our futures. Everyone was excited about what was to come. Even Daniel was more relaxed and calm, odd.

My cousins even talk to him about the house they would stay together. He seemed thrilled with the idea, but something kept nagging at me.

Earlier, he was acting down and anxious, and now he was acting like nothing was wrong. I even tried to ask him, and he kept telling me, "Everything is fine." I wish I could believe him. It guarded Daniel about things.

Eventually, he left, and I sat there on the back porch, thinking. Pretty much everyone had left except us except Piper's family. I couldn't help the nagging feeling I was getting.

Lex walked out and took a seat next to me. "You okay?"

"Do you ever have a feeling about something and just can't shake it?" I looked at him.

"All the time, why?" Lex asked.

"Because something is nagging me about Daniel." He looked at me. "Lex, I'm worried about him."

"Why don't you call him?" He suggested.

I looked at him and dialed his number. It rang but ended up going to voicemail. I kept trying but the same thing. That was odd; he always picks up the phone. I didn't know what to think.

"I'm going over there," I said as I stood up.

"I'll go with you. Let's tell Ma and Dad first," he said as he stood up. We walked into the house, explaining things to our parents. They agreed we should check on him, and Maverick also offered to go.

Lex drove the three of us over to Daniel's house. As we got out of the car, I couldn't shake the sense of dread I was having. The air became heavy all at once.

We walked up to the front door and knocked. No one answered, so I turned the handle. It was unlocked.

We went inside, and I yelled for Daniel. His parents were out for the night, so it was just him alone in the house.

We made our way up the stairs to his room, and I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. Oh god, please let it not be what I think it was.

I knocked on his door. "Daniel? It's me, Lyric. I have Lex and Maverick with me. We're coming in."

As soon as I opened the door, I screamed.
