You two were beyond gross.

In Katsuki's eyes, anyway. He hated studying with you and Izuku nowadays because you two sat unbelievably close together, almost like you were sharing a bench seat. It was to the point where, if either you were left handed, you'd be bumping elbows the whole time and screwing up everything you wrote.

Katsuki wasn't sure what you two were like when he wasn't around, but he'd wager a guess that you were even more sickening than you were now.

And he didn't know how it was possible for any couple to be even grosser than his parents when it came to lovey-dovey garbage.

The only time he feels less disgusted by the whole situation is when Izuku leaves for a moment to answer a call from his mom, and yet, you keep smiling while writing more notes. Katsuki doesn't get it, honestly.

"You guys are disgusting."

Hearing your childhood friend's statement made you look up at him for a second, laughing when you saw the scowl he had.

"Yeah, I know. My dad has said that several times."

Katsuki just rolled his eyes when you said that, then just watched you. You were still smiling away as you wrote out notes, even though it was your least favorite subject you were writing for.

Why on earth were you so happy all the time now?

"Why Deku?"

You looked up again, a questioning look on your face at the question Katsuki had asked you.

"What do you mean?"

"Why'd you pick him? Out of all the people we know, why Deku?"

You thought for a moment, trying to find an answer, before you put a grin on your face and said "Aww~ Does Kacchan have a crush on me??"

"What. No!! Don't be an idiot! It was just a question!"

You weren't sure if the blush on his face meant Katsuki was lying or he was just embarrassed, but you assumed it was the latter. You giggled a bit before leaning back and saying "I don't know...I mean, we've been friends since forever...I guess it was just natural that it happened?"

Your explanation just made Katsuki stare at you even more, like he didn't believe you or thought you were making something up to not tell him the real reason. It makes you laugh while he just scowls.

"That makes no sense."

"Well, what else can I say? My heart was just drawn to Izuku..."

Walking home with Izuku that evening, you thought about Katsuki's question to you.

Why did you pick Izuku? Was it really because you two had been friends for so long, it just felt natural for him to be the one you fell for? You watched Izuku while you two walked home, listening to him talk about several things that had happened during the Hero Informatics classes he had earlier that day and prattling off his homework assignments he had to complete that night, before muttering and mumbling about training his Quirk later on as well.

It was these little things about Izuku that you loved so much. He was a ball of nervousness sometimes and it usually showed when he was with you because you two, while so happy to be dating, were still nervous at times when it was just the two of you (hence spending a lot of your free time at each other's home with your respective parents, or studying with your friends even though you were in different courses). These little, non-super power quirks of his made you smile when they surfaced. Izuku was always overanalyzing and thinking things through, he was amazing at coming up with various strategies on the spot, utilizing his resources.

He was also the sweetest boy you had ever known. You had met when you were barely three and he hadn't changed in the almost thirteen years you had known each other. He always tried to put others first, helping out anyone he could because of his dream to become a hero one day; he wanted to be there for others.

And you really believed he would be the greatest hero one day.

After all, he had been there for you during your childhood, when your parents separated for six months during junior high Izuku was the one there to help you through it (Katsuki was to a lesser extent), you two had helped each other with all your exams, and he was a great comfort when you heard about the accident that paralyzed one of your uncles. Izuku was there when you found you hadn't earned enough points to be in the hero course at UA, and he's the one that encouraged you to enter the support course instead.

Maybe that was it. Izuku was always there for you through the hardest parts of your life so far, you enjoyed his presence and were sure he felt the same about you.

"(Y/N)-chan?"

You were torn away from your thoughts when Izuku said your name, looking at you a bit confused. How had you gotten to be several steps behind him? Were you thinking so hard that it made you slow your pace and stop walking?

"Are you ok?"

You nod a bit, smiling before catching back up to Izuku and taking his hand.

"I'm great."

Because I have you by my side through everything...
