"Wait, your dad is coming home for your birthday??"

You could practically hear Izuku nodding while you were on the phone with him. He had called you early one morning after texting you that he got some great news, but wanted to actually talk to you to tell you what it was. You had wondered what it was, before telling him he could call you whenever he was able to.

The news was bigger than you expected. In the 12 years you had known him, Izuku had never once said a word about his dad, nor had you ever met the man. When you were about six, you asked your mom about it, and she simply said that Mr. Midoriya worked overseas, that's why you had never met him personally. You weren't even sure how deep the relationship between father and son was, but based on how excited Izuku sounded, you figured it must have been deeper than you originally believed.

Either that, or he was just excited to see his dad again after so many years.

"Yeah!! He gave us a call yesterday, it was kind of late, and said he was able to secure a few days off to come visit! Can you believe it?!"

Honestly, you couldn't. You hoped you were wrong, just by hearing how excited Izuku was, but you had this nagging feeling in the back of your mind that something wasn't going to work out properly. And you really hoped, for Izuku's sake, that your thoughts were just screwing with you.

"That's so great, Izuku!! How old were you when you last saw him?"

"Ah...maybe two? Or three? I'm not sure, I'd have to ask mom when he had to leave. Either way though!! I want you to come over that day to have dinner with us, I want him to meet you!"

That made you nervous, thinking about meeting the father of your boyfriend, when he hadn't even seen the man in over ten years himself. But the fact that Izuku wanted you to come over to meet him told you how important it was to him.

"Of course I'll come over that night."

You didn't want to let him down.

"Hmm...what to get Izuku..."

You had gone out with Ochako a couple of days later to the mall, trying to find a gift for Izuku for his birthday the next day, and you were struggling. When you were kids, it was so easy because you were young, and buying anyone something with All Might on it was perfect.

But now? You and Izuku were in a relationship, and it was so hard for you to figure out exactly what you should get him that didn't seem childish or cringy.

Ochako had tried to suggest a few things, but when you both thought about it, none of them fit Izuku very well.

You were ready to give up after a few hours, before Ochako pulled you into one last store, a jewelry store, and you felt it was an odd choice.

"Uraraka...I don't think anything in here will work for Izuku either."

"Never say never, (Y/N)-chan!" Ochako gave you a grin while looking over a few things, and you put a smug smile on your face.

"You didn't pull me in here because you're thinking of Katsuki...right?"

Seeing your friend's face burn red tells you that's exactly what it was, even as she waved her hands in front of her face and denied it.

"W-What are you saying?! I-I'm just trying to help you!!"

"Right, right..." you shook your head and went back to looking at the various rings and necklaces around, telling yourself that you were right and none of these fit Izuku in the slightest. "Uraraka, let's just—"
