Chapter 5

Jacob's POV

I woke up with a start. Nessie was wide awake and staring around the room. I heard murmurs coming from the kitchen. Suddenly Nessie saw me sit up and wrapped her arms around me. "Jake!"

"Nessie! I'm so sorry, I should have kept an eye on you. I was so childish arguing again and-"

"Jake, you found me and picked me up. That's all that matters. I just can't seem to stay out of trouble. I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize. Your mom was like that when she was human. I'll leave you now that I know you're feeling better."

"No! Jake please stay. I feel...safe around you"

"Fine," I smiled smugly. Eventually, once she was sure I was staying, she layed back down and shut her eyes. Once I heard her soft breathing (meaning she was asleep), I crept out of the room and found Bella and Edward arguing in the kitchen. Deciding not to get involved, I went back into the living room and sat on the floor next to Nessie, stroking her hair. She was so peaceful when she was asleep.
